To make a long story short, the past 4 years I've been through numerous injuries two of them requiring surgery. I got addicted to pain pills after the surgery and had quit lifting all together. I'm trying to get back in it semi-hard core. My previous best bench was 405 at a body weight of 190. I could squat around 550 and deadlift 475. I came back a few weeks ago and 135 lbs. felt heavy on the bench. Now the muscles seem to be remembering and I'm back to 225. Another 15 pounds and I will match my high school best. My goal is to get my bench in the low 300s while also losing some fat. I still weigh 190 unfortunately gravity has caused the weight in my pecs to fall down into my gut. I'm 37 years old to give you a time frame reference. Wish me luck!

Damn I'm weighing 190 right now and can't imagine benching 405! How tall are you? Good luck!!!!

Id like to get to a 300+ lb bench press myself and currently I weight 185 lbs 28% BF. My max right now is about 265lbs Been working hard in the gym for about 6 months now and am 27 years old. Good luck man

Dont be in a hurry . Go slow and injury free. Trust me its a better way to go at this age....good luck.

You will get that 300 bench if you keep going for it. I've found that I go long periods without making gains in my 1 rep max and then suddenly it starts shooting up fast for a while. I'm also probably about 28% BF. I want to get that down to 15%. At one point in the past I got down to 12% and my abs were visible even when I wasn't tightening them. However I never managed to get the vascularity that I wanted. I haven't had a lot of veins showing since my high school days.

My buddy took some time off and got back in about 3 months ago... Started with 135lbs couldn't even hit 2 plates lol now he's good for 10 reps @ 315lbs.... Muscle memory is real and it comes quick
