I Am Renting a New Mustang Monday While My Truck is Getting Fixed

New member
It is the new body style which I think is cool the only bummer part is that it is a v6 but hey is will be alot more fun to drive than a tauraus right? $50 a day.

even the v6 is quicker than before...........just a lil' bit slower than the previous generation's v8 acceleration. give us a full report on this car.....gasoline prices and sticker prices and insurance rates make me wonder if a v6 mustang would be an acceptable compromise.

the last time i rented a car while mine was getting worked on..........i wound up buying a clone of the rentalcar and trading off my truck before they fixed it, lolol!

i wouldn't touch a V6 Mustang, at least i wouldn't own one. i was in my gfs 96 Civic coupe and me and a late 90s V6 mustang ran from 70 to about 110. while i couldn't gain any ground on him, he couldn't pull away from me. large domestic V6 vs. 1.6L I4 import....pretty shitty engine in the V6 mustang performance wise.

i wasn't trying to race him either. i was on a stretch of road where i usually hit 80-100 while passing everyone else.

Please, if you buy an American "Sports" or "Muscle" car, don't waste your money on a 6, you'll regret it. Oh, and BTW, Saleen and SVT are for sure going to do something with the new body, good luck selling that GT when a real mustang hits the market.

So what do you think if it bor?

A buddy of mine rented one for a while. It looks really cool on the outside but the interior is boring and cheap.

The V6 does move pretty well though.

i just rented a ford expidition. not bad for a ford

Actually, my project car (see current thread) will include a graphic of Calvin pissing on the horse-shaped mustang symbol in the back windshield...

None-the-less I have to admit that the new GT's do look pretty sweet.

Well I was going to say "My TA eats vipers and shits cobra mustangs" on the back, buts its too long, and I prefer to not have words on teh back of my car.

Cool those are pretty good numbers. Yeah, the guys on the ls-1 boards are clueless about a LOT of things. They seem to understand the concept of an engine being an airpump, but they don't comprehend scavenging, the dynamics of efficent combustion in a high performance engine, or anything about achieving good thermal effiency. They seem to be 10-15 years behind the latest race technology.

I've been reading the boards lately and have realized this.

ill take some pics BBF for ya. my car is parked at my parents house. i hate winter cant drive it. lucky for you you get to eat vipers all year round. bastard!!!!

Yep. Viper drivers are so cocky. A bone stock viper showed up at a street race I was at in '95 and said "I have a $1000 that says I can beat any car here" once we realized he wasn't going to give us all a $1000, we had to paper-rock-scissors to see who got ot beat him... he realized he made a mistake when that happened... he actually thought he was going to show up at a serious street race and compete with modified cars with something he bought off the showroom floor... LoL That is like Brad Pitt or Ed Norton showing up at the Mr. Olympia and expecting to place.

What sort of specs do you have wootom? Most of the guys I see with over 500+ rwhp in an alsare using sleeved blocks and over 420 ci. I'm not convinced its worth the money, nor as reliable as a stock-bore block. For the money, one could invest that extra $3000 somewhere else and make more power.

Unfortunely BBF did not get that easy $1000... the guy who did get to race him was like "Line that piece of shit up... that thing stock? Good, I won't have to waste any nitrous smoking you..."

That guy was too embarassed after loosing to an El Camino in his viper to show up again. LoL

Edward Norton version American History X and Brad Pitt version Fight Club would be serious contenders in a Mr. Olympia contest. don't knock them bro. they juiced for those roles.

:laugh2:

dude, where's the BBF that understood sarcasim?

bone stock a Viper is fast when compared to other bone stock cars. expensive as fuck though, and you can buy something else half the price and put some cash into it to make it just as fast and STILL pay less.

does anyone remember the time I trucked off in the company truck?

This post really has nothing to do with my penis, my race car or my biceps... so in other words its just meaningless random words on the screen. Yeah....

huh-WAYY!!!

quoting from my latest "car & driver" magazine, feb 2005 isssue: "...this puts the new v-6 automatic just 0.6 seconds off the old automatic v-8's 0-to-60 time and only 0.2 seconds slower in the quarter". :chomp: :chomp:

see if u like it. i jsut recently quit my Job at Ford.

Personally im not a ford guy.. i Own 2 T/A's! ;)
the new ones r nice. the rear ends look like shit. pretty quick, decent responce, shitty cornering.
as for the whole new look. not bad, they did nice with the interior, and lets keep it at that ;)
i personally prefer the Cobra, wouldnt waste my money on that shit tho lol... rather get a Vette.

i was in a dealer a while ago getting some info on the new GTO. the sales guy was talking so much shit.. " there's a waiting list... i need a deposit for test drives.." i simply looked at the dumb bitch.. pointed at my car outside and said" DO YOU KNOW WTF THAT IS!?!?.." lol, was the same thing when my Former dealer got the stangs in.. same crap talk.. so i took one out to the back lot, lit it up.. left a nice strip, and shook my head in dissapointment.... cant wait to see what the Charger will do when Chrysler comes back out with it

Damn near Chrysler should call the new charger a 400C. Typical 21st century Dodge; "let's come up with a design and make every car incorporate it", no individuality. It works for Ferrari, not Chrysler. Same with the GTO, it's just a more powerful Grand Prix or Am. The new mustang is, IMO, a great step in the right direction. Check out the new Roush stangs, TIGHT!!!!

I know a guy who has a Pinto and his back window reads "My pony eats 600hp T/A's". My point is, who cares. Your T/A stock couldn't touch either one of those mentioned. Anybody can pay the money and add the hp and other components. There's some 800hp "rice burners" out there that would destroy you. Again, who cares. Be proud of what you built, not arrogant.

You ford guys are so touchy. LoL Anywho, I looked at both the mustang gt's and the cobras for my project car, since they do have a pretty sweet look to them, and I had access to one at a very reasonable price. The problem was, they simply were not capable of meeting my goals, and teh engines were entirely too expensive to built up parts are outragously priced for the 4.6L DOCH engines. $2500 for a set of cams, $3000-3500 for a sent of decent heads, etc. I really do not want to put $20K in an engine.

I understand where your coming from, I should of thought about that before I bought my Cobra. BTW, I'm not a "Ford Guy", I like cars (except Mustang GTs). I was going to buy a 98 or newer SS before I bought the SVT, I'm going to keep this one for a while, the next car I buy will hopefully be a C6.
