I had shoulder surgery (labrum) about a year ago and didn't start lifting until about 5 weeks ago. I am currently doing CKD diet. I lift at 5 AM, right after my work out I have a shake made from the following, I just want some feedback to see what you all think, get some suggestions.

2 Scoops - Optimum 100% Whey
1 Scoops - V12
1 Scoop - Gatorade
100 MG - ALA
2 tsp - Flax Oil

I am trying to lean out while adding musle. I just started this today! Suggestion?

remove flaxseed oil from the shake...the whole idea of consuming protein+high GI sugars is to induce a rapid insulin responce which will replenish muscle glycogen and deliver aminos for repair....oil will slow down the absorption, not to mention combining it with fast sugars can be countereffective in fat loss..

'I am trying to lean out while adding musle.'
sorry brother...do one OR the other, but not both...not to mention CKD isn't the wisest choice for adding muscles..

yup it's all good apart from the flax oil
not too familiar with optimum whey but make sure the whey you're putting into your pw shake has a hich concentration of BCAAs for recovery

Cool, thanks for the input.
Juve,
Most posts about CKD diets mention that it is definitely possible to add muscle while leaning out. I am not bulking up, I just don't want to lose any muscle while I am dropping body fat. Hopefully I can add some pounds of lean muscle at the same time.

Umm, umm, umm...

CKD is designed to preserve muscle while burning fat...i think you have misread...you need an abundance of calories for muscles to grow, not deficit...adding muscle tissue on CKD simply means that you're not consuming carbs while still over-maintenance in calories (even more protein and fat)

I'm going to get optinum whey as my PWO shake too. should I still eat a teaspoon of peanut butter or is the shake enough?

sawastea,
Shouldn't you be prowling the Mohr Softball Board?
I see you posting over there all the time! Good to see a fellow softball player over here as well.
