a lil off topic. but to thaibox

about the whole fighting thing....ive been in over 20 fights im not even shure around 20+ real fights. i dont care who you are or how big you are with barenuckles anything can happen. its alot different from thaibox with gloves. ive knocked plenty of people out with one punch to the face. ive broken a guys shoulder and collar bone and probably more shit then i know ive done on people ive fought.ive got knocked out 2 times and got my ass beat pretty BAD also before by someone smaller, and really he basically just got in those first few lucky hits that fucked me up. you see im not afraid of anyone and dont expect anyone to be afraid of me. FIGHTS ARE UNPREDICTABLE AS HEEEEELLLLLLL

Jus my voicing my opinion about fights....the better fighters I've seen, it's not unpredictable as hell. They know what they're doing, and don't fuck up so it doesn't get unpredictable. I'm referring to a good fighter fighting a brawler though, as two good fighters can be different. One might get in a lucky punch and that lucky punch from a good fighter could very well lead to the end of the fight. Last note: my opinion, so please don't think I'm blastin ya at all, 6 foot 6.

Teen,

You nailed it. Unskilled brawlers create a very unpredictable fight. When someone is skilled and motivated, they win consistently.

Not blowing smoke here, but I have had a ton of fights both in and out of the ring. Inside the ring, I won most, but not all. Against a similarly skilled and physically gifted person, it is sometimes a coin toss, and yes, sometimes you get surprised.

But I have never come close to losing a real fight. Not even close. I also would point out that I have never fought anyone who was athletic, AND knew how to fight. Many athletic guys, many much bigger than me, but the fact that they don't know what to do means that they consistently lose.

And that goes double for a grappler. He will beat a non-skilled person nearly every time. Less chance for a lucky punch winning the fight when you are on your back, or inside the guard.

nclifter6feet6:

You talk about getting Karma as well as one even being positive karma...yet you do not send karma to anyone (even the person who sent you positive karma), then you come here and ask for karma so you can stick around...????

You state your opinions as facts. Please understand that you opinions are not facts. And NO...I am not interested in sucking "big dinky dong"...lol

Is this suppose to impress me? I hate guys that make posts like this, and have always avoided it, but I'm tired and in a bad mood, so I guess I can be an immature tough guy too. I've been in umm....hundreds of fights. Trained in several arts since age 7(27 now). I've fought sanctioned, non-sanctioned(way before MMA became popular, and no 'gloves' slick), amateur and pro in both Thai and NHB(very proud of my record in both). Waiting to overcome an injury so I can start MMA again. I teach Close Quarter Combat at a bodygaurding school. Fighting is the only thing I've ever been any good at, so I have drowned myself in it religiously my whole life. I haven't been in many "street fights" however, because I'm not an asshole like you. I've controlled many more situations than I have had to resolve. I prefer it that way. If I never get into another street fight again, I'd be fine with that. I wouldn't brag about being in so many street fights if I were you. That simply means you don't have self-discipline. I also teach philosophy, so I have become more into finding peace rather than seeking violence. Hopefully you'll grow up someday.
Now let this stupid thread die.

Agreed, I apologize for adding to the slaughter of it. Just wanted to clear things up for the tough guy. Let it drop

Just a quick story for 6feet6

The few fights that had to happen, I wasn't proud of, and I felt badly afterward. But, I was once at a party where a pretty big dude was drunk as hell and started braking shit(someone else's house) Someone told him to chill and he knocked them cold. I could have put him down hard and been the "cool guy" of the night. But, I walked over, locked him up, put his face in the floor and told him he could either go to the ICU or have a drink with me and tell me why he's being an asshole. I thought I'd have to put him down. Turns out, he just caught his fiancee cheating on him. Also, two weeks earlier his sister was raped. He turned out to be a really stand up guy, just in a bad time. We drank together that night and became friends. I still keep in touch with him and his new wife today. Making friends is where its at, anyone can beat people up(the average person can't fight). Anyway, just felt that that was relevant. Sorry. I'll let it fall now.:)

Thibox,
I agree that the pinnacle of martial art is avoiding fights.
However, do not be so hard on the guys who street-fight often - really often it is unavoidable - it all depends on the setting.
As I remember, after 18 I had only 3 street fights - once I had to kick ass of my girlfriends classmate who wanted to rape her in front of me; once my dog barked on some local "cool guy's" younger brother and that bustard wanted me to fight with him one-on-one (in front of two armed bodyguards) - he did not accept my appologies; and once my ass was kicked when my babe owed some money to a local gang and refused to pay.
For last 4 years I am avoiding all fights, but I used to have other guys fight for me - just because fights are unpredictable, you know :) .
