As far as dealing with a child and their role model...people need to be responsible parents and discuss things like that with their children. Little kids and teens have admired the pro bodybuilders in Flex magazine for years...and they are on tons of AAS. Parents need to be pro-active with their children.
After my last contest (marking my 1 year of competing in this crazy sport) someone came over to me and cornered me. I had just been asked to help with a Christian Strongman Team demonstration by their President when one of the other members walks over and begins telling me that I am using AAS. He begins saying that since I have gotten a lot stronger in the past year that I must be on AAS.
This guy was 5'4" and 225 and was accusing me at 6'2" 284 of being on AAS. He can out bench me too...but a good bit. In the past year I have went from hanging with him in strongman competitions to blowing him away on every single event. What he doesn't realize are a few things:
1) When he saw me compete a year ago...I had never done a contest or touched a single implement. He had been doing strongman for a few years as well as several contests. I now have lots of equipment to train with and have done several heavy contests.
2) ...and as I began to tell him... I train with more heart, drive, determination, and intelligence than he does. He complained all day long about how he was being cheated on ever event and at the end of the day when he placed 4th and did not qualify...he began by saying that he was glad that he didn't qualify for Nationals this year because he didn't plan on going anyway. He was going to the Bench and Curl state meet that weekend.
Sorry for the rant...
