A long time ago I read an article by Shawn Philips on HIT cardio. He claimed to have used that to get to an all time low 5-6% and we all know that guy had amazing abs.

Its basically a plan, starting at 4min week one all the way to week 8 where you do 15min of HIT CARDIO.

30seconds fast
30seconds slow

untill your time is up...

has anyone ever tried this?

I am started this this week. 4 min on the bike... I sprint for 30 seconds, then I go easy, then sprint again, untill the time is up.
$min is easy on the bike... is this a good cardio regimen?

My cardio/events are very high intensity in nature. I think that the HIT cardio style is good for increasing your cardiovascular endurance and performance. As for fat burning...well...I'm no expert (as he finishes a bowl of hamburger).

I did try this routine( actually is called HIIT-hight interval intensity training-) for 2 -3 months and I got really good results.

I used to do HIIT on the treadmill every other day , and I started with 45 sec slow pace alternated with 45 sec fast pace. I would crank up the treadmill at the maximum. You should run as fast as you can . You should start with a 5 min routine and build up to 15-18 min by the and of the cycle. I would do weights every other day too...

IT is not easy but the results are super and your abs will get tighter and tighter. It is true that you may lose some muscle but not too much. On the other hand HIIT is a great fat burner; at the end of the cycle I was down 8 lb.

I usually do the 2 months routine once a year to shock the body ..At the beginning I was a little skeptical but as I was progressing the results were visible and encouraging.

It take discipline and ambition to finish the 2 months cycle. I havent heard anybody yet, who did HIIT , complaining of poor results.

are u saying u do 4 minutes on the bike THEN go out and do sprints on a track for 30 slow/30 sprint?...or do u mean ur doing 30 slow/30 sprint ON the BIKE for 4 minutes?

YES!!!

I use this stuff AND SWEAR BY IT. Its GREAT. I alternate this with more "traditional" cardio when cutting up.

I recommend starting at 6 intervals and working your way up, I tried 12 my first time ... boy was I mistaken.

the MOST IMPORTANT THING is to do ALL cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. The difference in fat loss bw doing it this way and on a full stomach is HUGE.

i did this type tonight. sprints on a spinning bike followed by low intensity, over and over. pretty good stuff. talk about an endorphin rush afterwards.

Sprinting flat out as in running is better, I use a football field, going aorund the perimeter. I sprint on the goal line side and walk up to the other side and then sprint again etc. I normally start jogging and then build up speed, until after the 4 time aorund I'm flat out spriting. I'll do a do about 6 all out laps and then do a cool down jog lap and then stretch and head home.

This last about 30 mins from start to finish
It works great, and blows up your legs, lower back, especially the hamstrings and the calves. Since I run with sprinting spikes, they tend to make your run on your toes, and so your calves get to take the full force of the movement. You get great development in the glute hamstring tie in area. Anyway look at the legs of sprinters, most of em look better than the legs of bodybuilders :)
