Hey Mr.X..WHERE ARE YOU?

No, you hold on fat oh one! lol

I weigh 172 lbs and my bodyfat has been hydrostatically measured in the low single digits. I won't say how low because you wouldn't believe it if I told you. Now, use your brain to calculate my muscle mass.

Everyone always assumes that their bodyfat numbers are lower than actual. I'll tell you what, you cut that 250lbs down to low single digit bodyfat numbers and lets see what you have. Not much and you know why? Because its mostly fat. Take a look at Lestat's pics he just posted. He said he started at 215 @ 6'2". After cutting, he's down to 183lbs. Now he appears to still be about 10% BF but he's much leaner and looks much better (which is probably the reason he posted his pics & you won't). He weighs 11lbs more than me and I'm 4" shorter.

Hell, I was a "bulk" guy like you all my life (except the last 2.5yrs) - worked out since I was 15yo. Then I developed the self control to eat properly all the time. I'm no longer a "bulker" and never plan to return (my gf would kill me). lol

HOLD ON LITTLE ONE!

Your avator pics looks like you weigh about 160. I have absolutely no problem with that. Since you are light, you for sure should have a six pack. I weigh 250lbs, so it isnt the easiest of things to attain. However, i dont care about a six pack. I am big so it is a hell of lot easier to gain mass and strenght.

I do input a lot on the training boards, but i would like to increase my dietary knowledge too, hence i am reading and posting on the diet board. NOT ANYONE CAN BULK. Most thin guys cant bulk, like most big guys cant cut, genetics maybe, but absolutely not fully. Ill be the first to admit, if i have to sacrifice something it will be cardio.

The internet and message boards are great, but you have to use your brain to determine if you agree with someone or you discredit them. Most people on these boards can read through the bullshit and take note of the great ideas.

I agree with you but not in the general sense that the term "bulk" is used. Most people use "bulking" to allow them to consume massive quantities of food. Take CWICK for example at 250lbs. Do you think his BF is anywhere near 10% (for your 3-4% scenario).

I could never go from 172lbs to 230lbs without the use of AAS (which I would never use) so the point is moot.

njripped, you're wrong on this one. Bulking does not necessarily = getting fat. In fact, the one's who bulk successfully are the one's that put on the smallest possible amount of fat. Of course anyone can pig out and balloon up. But I would like you to try going from your 160lb figure to 230lb with an increase of only 3- 4 percent bodyfat. Ah, makes it a lot harder, huh?

Now, cutting is definitely difficult, b/c you have to put a lot of effort into designing the perfect diet -- takes some of trial and error. But if you're strong mentally (ie. you are able to resist the temptation of eating the entire cake at a bday party), more than half the battle is already won.

cwick0 sorry bro I wasn't having a go at you - i deleted part of my post that explained it better, i was actually thinking of the guys who DO post their pics that look like crap but then claim bigger lifts and measurements than guys like Needsize. guys who claim their 16.5" arms are 19" when it's clear they're not, and claim 405+ bench presses when looking at them you can see they'd struggle with 3 plates.

really pics of 6 packs dont interest me one bit, I'd much rather see vids of people lifting heavy weights but thats just me

Why do you have to be that dude? You've gone way overboard especially with calling people out you don't even know......get a grip kid.

YEP HERE I AM MR. FAT ASS. Its just an awful shame you assume to be a badass. I think it is great that you have low % of bodyfat, but remember you weigh 172lbs. Im 5'10.5" at probably 18% bodyfat, granite i wouldnt mind being 13-14% at 235. BUT GUESS WHAT. I DONT CARE TO BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. I am not a body builder nor a powerlifter, even though my numbers stack up to powerlifters. I am a mix of both. When you start smashing the weights that i do, then you can call me a FATASS. Until you rep 405 on bench, okay for your weight we will say rep 275, then you can critic my size and strength.

UNDERSTOOD.

I completely agree. Im not a picture buff with a camera, nor care for pictures, so i dont have any pics or vids of me training. I wish i had a video of hitting 5x5 with 405 last week on bench. I was shocked i got, never tried more than one set of 405 before, but could rest pause it for 3 some days and 5 on others.

It will probably be a cold day in hell before i have a six pack. I enjoy food a little too much for that and lack the essential time it takes to hit cardio religiously.

I'm not trying to be a badass. As a matter of fact, I'll be the first person to admit that I don't "smash the weights." Just as you don't care to be single digit BF ratios, the amount of weight I lift doesn't concern me at all. The amount of weight you can "smash" also has no relationship to whether you're fat or not. Either you are or aren't. This being the diet board, I just assumed (maybe wrongly so) that most people were more concerned with becoming leaner.

I have no problem in getting leaner and that is why i am working with and tend to train with Jkurz. The problem right now is grad school (not the course work, just all of the research time) and a bar i bounce at. Plus, i dont want to cut a bunch of weight and lose all of my strenght. Hence i dont really want to go below 230 or 235. Not to mention i have a very large frame and would quite funny weighing in at 200lbs. If you saw me, you would notice i am not fat at all, just big. I carry 250lbs really well, flat stomach. I know you would be suprised to see me weight 250lbs with a flat stomach.

"Get a grip." Are you serious? Do you recall recently hitting me with negative Karma saying the following "Fuck you and I'm 100% serious....."
