Help! I'm still losing weight!

The thing is my metabolism isn't fast enough to eat endless amounts of food. I did get fat from doing that once, and then had to diet, and got to where i am now (Although the last couple years i ate like a pig, i had no physical activity at all). If any of you have a daily food menu that are in a similar prediciment as me, be my guest, and post it. I wish i could just eat whatever the hell i wanted without the risk of getting fat, i would be at the China buffet every day, but i don't want all my hard work to go to waste, and wind up eating more than i burn off and getting chubby again.

1st of all - if you want to gain weight you have to eat more than you burn.

2nd of all, just because you got fat when you were sedentary doesn't mean it will happen again now that you're training with weights. if you bulk, you will put on a little fat but you will not fat again unless your eating is really out of control. Furthermore, if you're eating too much, you'll notice after a week or two and you can reduce calories a bit to keep from getting overly fat.

right now you're basically eating a hardcore weightloss diet. some things you might chage:

lunch: have a bigger sandwich, add some almonds or nuts

postworkout, have your protein shake with some high GI carbs. you can buy maltodextrin to mix in or you could just eat 4-6 rice cakes with the shake maybe.

except postworkout, make your shakes in a big glass of milk

instead of the 5 egg whites, try having 3-5 whole eggs (or make an omelet)fried in olive oil maybe? eat this later, not right after working out

dinner - meat with rice is probably good. rice is good because it's dense and easy to get lots of carbs without stuffing yourself. maybe stir-fry your meat in peanut or olive oil?

just some ideas. that might get you up to maintenance at least, haha

It takes a while to get fat.. you don't just wake up one day with a gut.

You need to take in an excess of energy to build muscle. Your body cannot create new muscle out of thin air :)

After i run out of isopure powder, should i buy weight gain powder instead of protein powder? Also, i went to the store today to look at natural peanut butter which i heard was very important to eat with gaining weight, but the nutrition facts were almost identical to the regular peanut butters like Skippy. Louden_swain, i understand your point, which is to basically eat like hell all day long, i am just paranoid that i am gonna gain the wrong kind of weight. You guys have to remember, i am 17 now, before about 2 months ago, no thought of getting in shape had ever crossed my mind, so i am all new to this. Also, should i just eat what ever i want, fast food and all, or still try to eat healty, but just in large amounts?

you have to understand, people are getting frustrated because they are telling you what you need to know, but you seem as though you refuse to listen. There really is no point in arguing w/ you; you will do what you want. but, you should realize that there are some very intelligent people here who could help you if you will just listen to that they are saying.

anyways, if you are scared about gaining a lot of fat (which obviously you are) then no, I would not just go out and eat anything. continue to eat clean, but you should highly increase the calories and amounts of food that you are eating. I was kind of in the same boat are in a couple months ago. I was just starting out in weight lifting, and I knew I was doing all of the exercises right, but I could not realize why I was not gaining weight. I finally understood how much food you really have to eat to make your body grow. It's hard to get used to at first, but continue to plug away at it, you will see results eventually. This past month or so I have been just chowing down, and my growth has practically gone through the roof from what I had seen at the beginning. So, like everyone else, I would tell you to continue to eat a lot more, train hard, and your hard work will eventually pay off. Good Luck!

Eat clean, eat alot. It is really pretty simple. I understand how you feel, I lost a bunch of weight on a low carb diet and the last thing I wanted to do was gain all that fat back. I learned that I HAD TO EAT CARBS TO GROW. Thats it, there really is no way around it.
I measured my arms , legs, stomach, chest so I had some starting numbers. I did not get anywhere near a scale for 30 days. I started eating good carbs (like people said above). At the end of thirty days I had put on around 8 pounds, now some of that was water due to the increased carbs, but it was not clear what the rest was until I took the measurements. Arms, legs, chest a little bigger, stomach a little smaller. As long as you keep working out you will be fine. Just do not eat crap. In my opinion, if you *feel* like you are putting on fat, do not stop eating, but increase cardio.

I think overhead's advice sounds dead on. The only reason I would see to eat junk/fast food is if you can't gain weight without it. Since fast food is the easiest way to eat a lot of calories, people with high amounts of lbm (like more than 200 lbs say) might have a hard time gaining weight without it.

Incidentally, there is pretty clean food at a lot of buffets. rice, meat, potatoes etc. you don't have to eat pudding and cookies :)
