HELP!! HRT Doc or clinic in Northern VA area??

I'm 31 and have been showing some tell tale signs of Andropause such as weight gain, depression, libido is south, irritabiltiy etc. After reading about Andropause and HRT on the web I picked a endocrinologist out of the book and went in to see her. She ran all the blood work and it turns out that I do have a low test level for my age.

My total test reading was 384

My Free test reading was 1.46

Thyroid, LDL, HDL and everything else was normal according to the doc.

Because of the huge test fluctuations in males from day to day, week to week etc. she sent me to have my test levels taken again and im currently waiting to get the results back.

If my test levels come back low again I do plan on seeking out some HRT. The problem is, I don't think this endo is very experienced with male HRT and from the research I've done on the net I can't seem to find any local docs or clinics in the Northern VA area that specialize in male HRT.

I have also been looking into the online clinics, however they all seem to be running some sort of scam and most will make you pay high prices to repeat all the blood work that ive already had done.

Can any of you bro's lend a helping hand or give me some sage advice?

TIA //Rick

Thanks for all the info so far gent's I appreciate it.

Things are at a stand still right now as I continue waiting to get my second set of blood results back. It's been over a week. You just can't get shit done around here in a timely manner.

As far as treatment options, I'm still searching for a local doc in VA that specializes in HRT. So far, all I can find are run of the mill Endos.

Then we have the hundreds of online clinics. Which one to choose, I guess it's just a roll of the dice.

If anybody has anything to add, please feel free to jump in and get the knowledge flowing. I've learned a lot in the past few days, but still have many questions that need answers.

Here are some simple quidelines if you want to do your own HRT program based on my experiences:

(1) Test is the foundation. A Doc won't give you an amount that shuts down your own system ... 125 p/w max ... usually test prop. However ... if your body is hungry for test, you are going to feel it.

(2) HGH is the partner ... about 15 iu p/month if from a Doc. Same logic - supplementation rather than complete substitution. IMO ... you can handle a bit more ... at least 1iu MTWThF with SatSun off. Budget is a concern here also.

(3) Anti-est ... small amount twice a week ... Tues, Sat. Ami is good.

(4) Diet. The Doc should take a good look at your diet with you and drive out the evil fats and junk sugars and flours. You are going to be able to eat more with 1, 2, 3 above in your system, gaining muscle and loosing fat.

(5) Exercise. Docs know little about this so you'll have to develop your own plan. I'd go for a simple 3 X 8-6, 3 exercises for majors and 2 for minors.

(6) Recovery. You'll have more desire to train, your metabolism will speed up ... so you'll have to be very careful with recovery. Get your sleep and rest. No over training.

(7) Sexual response ... it will never be like a teen ager, but it will improve a lot as your body simply becomes more robust. Too much training and too little recovery will defeat you ... be smart!

(8) Blood testing every 3 months. This is your guideline ... look at everything including esto and test. Adjust accordingly.

HRT is not a cycle unless you bump up the dosages. It is a life long supplementation.

Thanks for the info Lion, As usual, you've got some great advice for us.

As for the rest of you guys, can you recommend any good HRT doctors in MD/DC/VA? I'm looking at a few right now but don't want to invest time or money unless I know:

1. They're committed to longevity and will prescribe enough HgH, etc. to support long-term HRT .

2. They are legitimate physicians.

Thanks for any advice,
S

Look for a compound pharm in your area .. maybe 2. Go to them and ask for the Drs that are submitting prescriptions to them for topical bio-identical test for men (100 mg p/w). These are your active anti-aging Drs.

Then investigate them. Which insurance carriers do they use? Which major hospital are they associated with? Which medical societies do they belong to? Is their HRT program for men all encompasing including diet, exercise and sleep? And what blood testing do they require?
