Hammerthrower's workout and diet

Thrower25

New member
I throw and I lift powerlift style, low sets low reps, I do cardio in the morning about 3 times a week. I am 6'5.5" 285 lbs 21 years old. I want to still be able to throw and lift but I want to change up my diet to get rid of some of the useless weight. What kinds of plans would you recommend? How often should I eat? I would like to lose about 30 lbs by september.

Any repsonse would be greatly appreciated.

I was a hammer thrower at a D1 college myself. While my diet and lifting wasn't as regimented as it should have been, I think I can give you some advice.
I'd take any of the diets they give here for olympic lifters. you want to be explosive. Eat all day long, it's common sense with any sort of training while dieting. Eat big, eat before practice and afterwards. Sounds like you have great size and genetics already. Just keep up the workout. You dont need to do anything specific for the Hammer throw. I'd advise maybe a little extra shoulder and Rotator Cuff exercises. My rotators still hurt from that stuff.
