Guess what? She really DOESN'T have ripped abs

MS and NYM you guys are FAR BETTER PEOPLE than me....

I guess with all of the other nensense in the world (both in real life and the boards) I have developed a thick skin and am less patient....

I hope Missy realizes HOW LUCKY SHE IS to have you two in her corner. I give her two weeks tops (and that is at the far end of an extremely generous estimate) and you guys will go running from the keyboard screaming obscenities.....

PROVE ME WRONG MISSY - I DARE YOU.

I'll hold my tongue (or fingers as it were tee-hee) until either

A) I see some FOR REAL progress pics.

or

B) BOTH MS and NYM send up the white flag.

GOOD LUCK MS and NYM - YOU TWO ARE GOING TO NEED IT!

Sorry ny muscle..i didnt see the post w. carbs,.,,,but i did do that for a long amount of time slowly adding carbs like yams and oatmeal for the past 3 months but i thought carb up meant sugary crap? but i used to weigh 105 llbs but now im 130 llbs..---the updated pics i am 130 of course =) but i think ill just eat 100 carbs grams and 180 grams of protein and 30 grams of fat -efa..that sounds about normal and no carb ups! since im eating yams and oatmeal in the afternoon and morning

That’s a good amount of protein for your weight, I always like to stay on the heavy side of protein, more may not always be better but less sure is not good…whens the last time someone said “hey you should cut some protein out of your diet”.?

Your cals are 4 x 180 = 720…….4 x 100 = 400…9 x 30 = 270 total cals =1390.

If I was you id cycle your cals, some days eat around 1200 cals some days as high as 1600 cals, back and forth to keep your metabolism in check. Maybe 2 times a week eat 1600 and the rest of the week 1200.
Maybe Wednesday and Saturday have higher cals, or any 2 days of the weak, just make sure those are the days you are working out.

thanks alot ..um and im guessing no cardio with this routine until im unhappy with results..also the higher cals i would be taking in more of low gi carbs like wheat bread yams oats etc.......right? twice a week is good for me lol rather than 1 day of 500grams of lucky charms or carb ups...

no cardio? why not? yes do some cardio or whatver you have been doing now, and then add some more when you progress slows.

hardbdygrl- Read the package just because it says "wheat" doesn't mean it's good for you. The "harder" the wheat the more sugar required to activate (feed) the yeast so you get a "soft crust".

Can we please go back to basics here for a sec -- "ripped abs" -- as we all know, this is a function to a certain degree of genetics, but is primarily a body fat issue. Remembering that you can't spot reduce and to get "ripped abs", especially on a girl, you are talking bodyfat levels around 10%.

Yes, and not only that, but you actually have to HAVE abs to start with.

Missy, I've asked you this before - DO you actually have ab muscles? Because if you don't, you will never be able to see them, even if you get down to minus 10% fat (ha).

Please perform this check for me, and I want you to report back here, OK?

Lie down on the ground as if you are going to do crunches - knees bent. Now raise your head and shoulders as if doing a crunch. Tense your abs as hard as you can, pulling the top part of them down towards the lower part.

OK?

Now, hold that position, and feel with you fingers through/under the fat on your stomach.

What can you feel there? Please describe the shape and feeling of your ab area under your fat while tensed in the crunch position.

Thank you NYM and MS. I'm glad we're finally getting a bit more info out of missy - I've been getting the feeling for a while now that she is horribly confused with all the advice that has been given to her. It's a feeling I can (well, sort of) relate to - I was pretty confused when I first started reading here - and diet manipulation seems to be one of the most confusing issues of all - everyone has a different opinion on pre/post-workout nutrition, the timing of meals, what type of diet to follow, how many calories to take in, etc, etc., and if you are not very good at collating, analysing, editing, synthesising and implementing information, you're sure to feel swamped pretty quickly.

For B'mom, spatts, and anyone else who has been around to see most of missy's posts and has completely lost patience, well, the above is why I think we need to give her the benefit of the doubt. This board is about trying to help people to achieve their goals (even if they have irritating personalities), and I'm not sure that, without complete information, we have the right to simply shrug them off and laugh at them. Now, I know I may live to eat those words, but the fact is, all we know is that missy has posted a lot about how to achieve ripped abs, and people have given her a great deal of information, but a bunch of it has been conflicting, and has either been too complex or too simplified (for example, Par Deus' one liners about carb refeeds - I'm guilty of doing this to her too). Neither of those information presentation techniques is effective for people with learning styles that ... do not fit the normal curve.

I don't think that just ONE well-informed person has sat down with her to try and work out an individualised plan - so, as someone here said, she's doing everything she's read all at the same time!

NYM, I would be glad to hear of the progress you make.
