Outside of a handful of graphics this pretty much single handedly pwns anything shown so far from next gen.

I hope that the story of the game doesn't suck and that it's sticks with it's social commentary aspect as the previous games did.

you mean the glorification of truly despicable human beings? lol Cause that's about the only social commentary these games are making. And in this one you get to cross over your ill gotten bounty into the finance sector it appears. Nice money laundering life going on there. lol And now apparently you can take your dude's out to the tennis court or golf course, what in the all fuck?

I don't think we played the same games or saw them the same way.

I used to play GTA III and Vice City all day and night. I'd call in sick to work just to play some more.

You sound like one of those cynical mainstream news outlets lol. The GTA series has never "glorified" any societal ills so much as make a mockery out of them. These games are contemporary social satire at its finest, and The Onion could take notes on GTA IV's radio station commentary or in-game web pages alone.

If people really take these games seriously then it just goes to show how shitty a job we're doing raising our kids these days. But that's a whole other story.

GTA V, Watching Dogs, The Last of Us (fucking awesome game), Beyond (from the creators of IMO the best PS3 game ever Heavy Rain)... the end of PS3 is going to be fucking awesome.

.

possibly true the first couple go rounds but the last few games I think are exactly how I described. You're sounding like an industry lobbyist sweating through a congressional hearing on video game violence.

Yeah, you should critique video games instead of reflecting on the fact that you leech off taxpayers (and this board) rather than being a productive member of society.

...and spelling mistakes are the fault of pens, shootings are the fault of guns, and drunk driving fatalities are the fault of beer ads and fast cars. Oh I almost forgot videogames caused the first two World Wars too!

When will American society start taking responsibility for themselves again instead of blaming all these "things"?

Are you sure you've played those games?

Take Niko's story. I saw a story of an immigrant who wound up on the wrong side and with the wrong people. He knows that he's doing wrong, but he's continually scripted into situations where he can't find a decent way out of his predicament. In the end, he has to choose (unknowingly) between the girl that he loves and his cousin.

The final shot of the story is (perhaps) the point where the downcast life is the closest thing that he gets to the American dream.

I just watched a trailer with one of the lead characters attempting to stomp a severed leg down the toilet and frustrated by his inability to get it to flush. I carry your sentiment with most of what gets passed off as a video game these days but even I have my limits. Game "looks" utterly amazing though.

I don't see why he would be. I see MGS and GTA as two different type of games (open vs closed world). GTA has always seemed a little too cartoony for me while MGS always seem "slicker" (not to Crysis levels, but still better than GTA).

The new MGS is open world too. Although Kojima has always been known for being is own biggest critic. Most of the time his games always end up exceeding expectations. MGS V may lack the frivolous trimmings like tennis, golf, stocks, real estate, etc. but it will make up for it with solid tactical gameplay.
