Well, we did it.
Everything was wonderful, so very very wonderful.
The days before (Weds-Fri) were crazy, with various family coming in, balancing everything and everyone. But it was so great to have ONLY family there. We had 4 generations gathered together. It was amazing.
Things went smoothly, overall. I am writing a letter to the Ritz Carlton though. We had our Ceremony and Reception there, paid a TON of money (esp considering our small number of people) but were VERY disappointed with the level of service. Everything went off well, no major complaints, but if you know anything about the Ritz Carlton, you know they PRIDE themselves on SUPERIOR customer service. They are supposed to be the "gold standard". Like I said, nothing major, just a total lack of communication between the people there. So I had to deal with several things that I shouldn't have. But no biggie.
I cried several times during the day, everyone did. Even my big strong honey - who said he would not cry during the ceremony - CRIED.
And the days before, he was a nervous wreak. I was actually quite calm, until about 20 min before the ceremony started. My Dad was pacing around too, freaking out.
Everyone said I was the most laid-back bride they ever saw! I cried before Dad and I went down - he just hugged me and I fell apart. It didn't help that he kept telling me how proud my mom would be of me (she died when I was in HS).
The ceremony went VERY fast, I barely remember it. When I came down the aisle, I had tears in my eyes, so did my honey. I just remember my 3 y.o. niece playing the in the sand on the beach, which kept making me laugh - which helped me NOT cry! Then I would look at my honey and we just would smile at each other. Just about everyone cried.....I remember looking out at everyone and seeing tears in their eyes. That almost threw me in to a crying fit, but I stopped myself.
The reception was great, very elegant. My niece kept crawling under my dress - it was so funny! We got a great shot of her laying under my dress, I am lifting it up and looking down, her head was between my feet. Then she started going around trying to do it to other females.....but kept coming back to me since my dress was so "fluffy". She was quite the entertainment.
AND she made it until the end to take HER dress off! It was a record! VERY funny to see a 3 yo in panties running around this elegant reception!
His family was shocked, but mine is used to it. lol
It was so special, so awesome. We are silly happy. My honey was on the phone this morning and said "you just talked to my wife..." I got all butterfly-like inside, it was so cool.
We leave tomorrow for our short "getaway". We are going to Pismo Beach (in CA). It is supposed to rain, but whatever. We get a private balcony jacuzzi, that will be cool.
Sorry I've been so out of contact, I won't be back again until Thursday. Thank you SO SO SO muchfor the nice thoughts. That is very special to me, very sweet. I appreciate the well-wishes very much.
hugs and kisses,
MRS. Daisy
