G5.0 vs. Gravity: The Neurotic Ramblings of a Man on a Mission

Good to hear from you. I assume this guy is a serious gym rat if he wants to get a home set up. Talk him into that powerack from EliteFTS, then when he gives up buy it off him for cheap ;)

Guinness I'm jealous! I want a home gym set up badly but right now I just don't have the space. I'm moving soon, so we will see. Take advantage of that whenever you get the chance.

Enjoy your week off. You've certainly earned it. Oh and glad to see you aren't dead, lol.

LOL - still not dead. Didn't have 'net access for a bit. Still working69+ hours a week and my training has suffered a bit. I only made it to the gym 4 times in the last two weeks. Did 15 rep work and I'm gonna do 10 reps for the next two. HST bascially, but not as regimented as I con't always get to the gym when I want. We just moved in to my buddy's new house and he still watns to put a rack in the basement, but I'm not sure when it'll happen. ANywho, I'll be updating this thing still.

BTW I am officially tryinig to get lean (again) so pure strength is on hold at the moment. I weighed in at 260 the other day, but I don't look much fatter IMO. Not sure if it was the scale or what. WHatever. I'll take measurements for progress tracking

Good to see you're still breathing. I'm in a similar boat--working a ton and lifting when I can . . . Just do what you can and let us know how it goes.

Nice weight. Everyone's catching up.

Glad to hear that work is going well. Try to get maintainance workouts in if you can't go all out. You can hold onto your strength for quite a while and, meanwhile, you're getting fully deloaded. :)

Yeah, 260 is a good weight for a 6+ footer. What you can do if your gym schedule has to be erratic is just be instinctive, train one movement, and not follow a 'program' per se......like say you train on Monday, you can squat, do 5x5, then 2 or 3 sets of 8.....then say you can get to the gym until Thurs, you can bench and row....then next time you get to the gym, squat again, just to keep strength in big lifts and keep it stress-free.

Hey bro, I just checked my Pms for the first time in months and saw an old one from you. But I accidently deleted it with all the spellwin spam (those ads he sends out). I wasn't ignoring it, I'm just terrible with Pm's. I don't want you to think I was being a prick.

And don't worry about limited time. When I had to take a new job I had very limited training time. Some weeks I couldn't get in at all. Once I was full force again it all came back and then some. When you get back at it you will be better than ever.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I was thinking that for now I'll just alternate a dead/OHP/chin session with a squat/dip/row session. The problem is that I sold my car to move out here and the guy I'm staying with til I get settled is not quite the gymrat that I had anticipated. So for about another month my gym attendance will be sporadic at best.

I was just gonna post and ask if you stopped gaying around and picked up a weight yet, lol.

What you said is a good idea.....when your schedule won't allow sets days of the week, it is impossible to run a periodized routine.....I would personally do something like you planned, or even do a squat/pull/press whenever you can get to the gym, even if it is 3 days some weeks, 2 days others, none some.....it'll keep your basic strength up, and you may even be able to gain a good amount, like a peaking phase.
