Food vs. protein powder or MRP

Is there an advantage to eating food sources of protein instead of MRP's or protein powders? I ask because I don't particularly like tuna or chicken breasts, and have found that a lot of protein powders actually come out cheaper than a lot of whole food sources of protein, and taste better, too.

I would get as much protien from real food sources first. Chicken, Tuna, Lean ground beef, steak and fish. When your in the need for those extra calories or extra protein that when you would down a protein shake. They only time i have a protein shake is post workout. I try to take in a least 250grams of protein a day, I can do that with no problem by eating chicken and steak. What are your goals and stats? Post them up so we can you give you more info. Or just pm me. Good luck bro.......

it is better to eat food rather than drinking shakes for a source of protein-the shakes are for situations where you just cannot eat a real meal.

Try getting 50% of your protein from Powder and 50% from food. Always have powder post workout. Your body digests powder a bit easier than most foods.

I think that protein shakes are vital to a lifter's diet. However, they are a supplement like any other. Meaning they "supplement" your regular diet.

For me to get enough protein in my diet, I'd have to eat more meat, and therefore calories, than I want. I take two a day, which constitutes about a third of my overall diet.

i agree with trying to first get your protein from real food first.it would be hard as hell and a pain in the ass to try to get200-300 grams of protein a day from just food,so it makes it a little easier to throw in shakes .
