Fitness Competitions...looking to compete for the first time!

Has anyone here ever competed Fitness before? I am looking for info....contest listings (I live on Long Island), tips, people's personal experiences...etc. :)

I have never competed before, but have been training for yrs, follow a very clean diet, have a background in cheerleading, dance and gymnastics and work as a personal trainer. I have wanted to do a fitness competition for years now, and have decided that now is the time. I realize that it will require a lot of hard work, dedication and discipline...but I am up for the challenge!

Thanks so much!

I also just found that there is a competition November 13 in the city (NY).

It's the "Eastern USA Bodybuilding Fitness and Figure" show.
I plan on attending that (just to watch). There's on in Manhattan on Aug 7th too, but I already hve plans and can't make it to that one :(

Good luck with the fitness comps!!! I've watched a few on ESPN and those girls are tough. I don't think I could do anything that intense. I can't do a back handspring to save my life. :)

I know....but it looks like so much fun too!!! I still have some of my tumbling(backhandsprings, round-off back, etc)...and am pretty sure that I can get my standing tuck back if I work on it.

SOOOOO much goes into training for these things, but I want to try it at least once...I have a feeling though that I'll want to kep at it.

Go for it girl...you are only young once...and if you want something bad enough and work hard to get it, you'll do just fine.

Thank you!

There are a few shows coming up that I plan on going to as a spectator. I wish I knew someone though that has competed fitness before...
