Facts about Cottage Cheese, for the BBer

One of the most under-utilized “supplements” (I put supplement in quotes because it’s not really a supplement) in bodybuilding today is by far cottage cheese.

Now you might be wondering what benefits cottage cheese might be able to pass on to a person looking to build muscle and here it is:

Cottage cheese is mostly comprised of casein protein which is ideal to consume right before you go to bed because it is a “slow-digesting” protein which will continue to feed your muscles through the night!

Whey protein may be a better quality protein then casein but it is absorbed into your blood stream within an hour and then your muscles go starving!

Cottage cheese also contains about 6 grams of glutamine per 8 oz serving which may help increase your growth hormone levels.

Glad u jumped on the casein train!

I love cottage cheese, but I can't easy dairy. They should make a cottage cheese with goats milk........or do they?

they do! r u lactose intolerant? bc they make that version as well.

i have a place near me called The Fresh Market that sells organic stuff, specialty herbs, fresh cut meat (hmmmm), fresh caught fish (flown in overnight), etc, etc.

If they make it, I'm sure I can find it here. I just never looked.
Not only lactose intolerant, but am not a believer in dairy

Oh yeah I had to, been wanting to for awhile but the powder although not expensvie has to wait a bit as I just obught the 6lbs waxy the 7lbs isolate, the nolva, femera, volumizer, dermactine, and a shit ton of food.

so cottage cheese should do alright for now but I plan to get the night time powder soon!

Intresting I will have to look into that, my ex was lactose so we had to have certian things in the house for her and certian things for my diet. It was rough because they were very different diets...to make matters worse she was a vegitarian. hummm a lactose vegitarian dating a hungry meat eating milk guzzling weight lifter. hahaha

"Cottage cheese, theoretically, should be low in lactose since it's traditional preparation is heating fermented milk until the curds clump. However most cottage cheeses sold in North America today are "creamed", meaning that cream, milk or milk solids are added to the cottage cheese. Usually among the plethora of adulterated cottage cheese products, one can find cultured dry cottage cheese (often packaged in a plastic bag) that is quite safe to use as an ingredient in a lactose free diet.
