experience with hernia?...i need some help

The Canadian Oak
Does it feel like someone stabbing you with a knife about top left of your groin area? I get the same thing when I squat. Funny thing is it only happens a couple of times a year. And yes I have talked to my doc about it. He told me it could be a slight hernia and to take it easy with the squatting. So whenever it happens I lighten the weights for a little while.

mine feels more like a burning sensation when i squat and that is above the groin, but when i dl and shrug i get some discomfort in my abs,its isnt constant and only on heavy days, for the pain with squats its only been the past few weeks ive had it,same with the pain i get with shrugs and dl's

I experienced the same thing about a month and a half ago. I went to see my pcp, and he thought it was a hernia. I set up a date with the surgeon, who examined me and said that it was only a pulled groin, and that these feel like hernias. Your best bet is for sure just to go in and have a doctor examine you. The surgeon told me to take it easy on squats, and also prescribed some anti-inflammatory medication. I since have not felt any pain, hopefully he is right. Hernias are very rarely almost never fatal, so dont be to concerned about lifting, if you can handle the pain. I would definately get it looked at though. Just my 2 cents

I had the same problem 2 yrs ago. I went to the doc, and he told me that it is a mild hernia, but that i should get a second opinion from a surgeon. The surgeon said that it was just a testicular strain caused by heavy lifting. He told me to take off for 2 weeks and to pruchase some briefs that support my nuts. I ordered them from roadrunner.com. No problems since then.

ill make a appointment for next week just to be cautious, and im on a cycle, somebody said that may have a effect, maybe who knows better safe then sorry

Oak definitely go see a doc. Let us know what he says. It's probably nothing serious, but find out for sure.

I had something like that a few years back, pain in my grion to the right and a few inches above my nuts, I could feel it mostly squating, deadlifting etc, it even felt like it was shifting around at times, very scary hernia symtoms. I went to see two specialists who told me the same thing, weakened muscle in that area. The most important thing they both said is stay the hell away from weightlifting belts whenever possible. The idea is that they build up the pressure in the abdominal area which increases stability. The problem is that all that pressure looks for somewhere to get out, so if you have any weak areas, BAM, you're wearing your intestines on the outside. Since then, I have only used belts for heavy maxes, which as a bodybuilder, I rarely do, and knock on wood, no hernia as yet.
