Eggs

Before the popularity of protein powders, bodybuilders relied largely on eggs to bump up their protein intake. A large egg has seven grams of protein, 80 calories, and a great BV (biological value).

Again, you may be wondering about the fat and cholesterol, and again I can tell you that the media has over-hyped the issues. Fact: cholesterol is the basic structure for all anabolic hormones. Without it, your body can't produce Testosterone. If you’re following a good diet and working out, a few whole eggs aren’t going to hurt you. Even the very conservative American Heart Association says it’s okay to have four whole eggs per week.

Still, most bodybuilders use egg whites in their meals with only one or two yolks thrown in. You can even buy pasteurized egg products with the yolks removed. Add a whole egg to a carton of egg substitute and you have a great bodybuilder omelet.

I was under the impression there was 4 grams of protien to the white and 4 grams to the yoke.

So as Anthrax put it, More whites with one or two yokes is the best egg solution.

I've been using the Safeway version of Egg Beaters for some time now. I make shakes with them every day. They're a great clean protein source and you don't have to worry about salmonella.

And before this thread deteriorates into yet another arguement about whether or not to cook them, let's just agree that eggs are a great part of the bodybuilders diet.:)

OK

eggs are good ! :p

Yeah, eggs rock.

Here's one of my favorite ways to use eggs (whites, yolks or whatever):

----> Dice a cooked chicken breast and warm it up in a frying pan....throw in your eggs and scramble it all up!! Yum!

i agree eggs are great. It may have just been me, but when i started eating them every other day i was growing like a weed.

About grams of protein in eggs, there's 3g in the whites and 4g in the yolk. You're better off eating the whole damn egg man, the larger chunk of protein is in the yolk. Plus if you're working out and doing cardio you really don't have to worry about cholesterol like the people who sit at a desk all day and just go home eat and sleep.

i eat at least 4 eggs a day...thats 28 eggs a week, 1460 eggs a year. 1460 baby Chickens a year, not to mention how many chicken breasts i eat. SOMEONE HELP ME OH GOD HELP ME!!!!!

:D :D

bro... i never really thought about it that way... you're making me feel kinda bad here.... lol... shit.... i'm a murder of chickens and their babies... by the end of the year i must have eaten at least 50 whole chickens minimum, and about 750 baby chickens!!!! That sounds like i need my own farm! lol
