Eating "clean"

Has anyone experienced such a difference in results when eating clean compared to eating some processed foods. I mean, does having a little sugar in your oatmeal fatten you up, even if you make sure to reduce the size of the oatmeal portion to make up for the calories? I mean, what is the real difference between a 300 calorie bowl of all natural oatmeal, vs. a 250 calorie bowl of natural oatmeal with 50 calories of sugar on top?

i feel there is a big difference. you may not notice it the day after, or even the week after, but if you continue to have 250cal oats along with the 50cal syrup, it will catch up to you. if you hate otmeal by itself, add some protein and/or some cinnamon. does wonders for the oats. good luck bro!

IMHO.....eating cleanly makes a world of difference. For starters the sugar that's in your oatmeal will make your insulin spike (if it's a sufficient amount) which will make you store the carbs your eating and they will be turned to fat evenutally. To be perfectly honest with you I haven't come to understand why processed foods are so bad for you but cutting those out of my diet has made a tremendous change in my phisyque. The best advide I can give you is to try it for about a month and see if you aren't happy with the results....if not......go back to your present diet.

One of the main reasons I think "eating clean" seems to get better results is that, when that is your mindset, you pay much closer attention to your diet (getting enough protein, etc).

The other factor is appetite control. Eating high-GI, processed foods causes insulin spikes, which in turn tends to cause crashes in your blood sugars. You then get hungry again much sooner. Essentially, it is just much easier to overeat. Lower-GI, non-processed foods spreads this out more evenly, controlling hunger and appetite better.

IF you control calories equally, I don't think there's any real difference. It's just much easier to control calories, along with your appetite, eating lower-GI, non-processed foods.

eating clean?

I know very litttle about dieting. What exactly is meant by eating clean, and what types of food would a bodybuilder usually eat?
