Dumbbell lat work.

I'm thinking about adding what I've dubbed the 'suspended lat pull' to a routine of mine sometime in the future.

Basically, it's a reverse dumbbell shoulder press. Bent over something or another, perpendicular to the ground, and pulling. I think it would be so much more hardcore than the lat pulldown that everyone at my gym seems to get so hard over. You should see the form these people use!

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Just curious, as I've never seen or heard anything close.

Oh, and I was kidding about the 'hardcore' comment. :)

Sounds fancy. What about one armed dumbell rows?

Do those hit the lats well? I've only been barbell rowing, and I haven't noticed any real soreness down my sides.

I'd just do pullups, but they absolutely kill my joints.

I have been setting my incline bench at a high degree (not that high on my bench) and facing it and doing dbell rows on it... They are nice...

Dumbbell Rows are indeed an excellent exercise. However, I favor barbell rows. This exercise pounds my lats everytime. When you perform dumbell rows be sure to pull the dumbbell into the side of your ribcage then return to a full stretch position. The lats are an extremely strong muscle group so don't be afraid to go heavy; just be sture to use good form.
