Doing light sets 3or4 days after a heavy set?

Everyone knows the once a week for a group right? Well I've been doing a light set just after my arms are no longer sore (3-4 days after my heavy set). I use lighter weights and smaller sets. To me it works well, My arms are always pumped and I don't get that deflated feeling the 6 days into your recovery I normally get. Anyone else try this? Any thoughts on this? I've been able to break a new max each time I bench doing this but I'm also on gear so it's hard to tell if this will work off juice.

Yes it works!

Active recovery is the term. However, if you are waiting 72-96 hrs. later then you are simply doing a heavy/light workout split. This type of training is fine. Active recovery involves working a previously worked muscle group about 24 hrs. later than the original heavy workout. The idea is not to hammer the muscle group again. The idea is to use light weights (>50% of 1 rep max) for higher reps in order to force blood into this muscle group. The increased blood flow speeds recuperation. A "feeder" workout is the term.
