Does Psyllium cause stomach bloatness?

My stomach seems to get bloated to totally unreal extreme levels whenever I eat a lot of carbs. Even though I am very lean, after eating those carb food I look VERY BAD. My guy is standing out like a pregnant woman (digusting). The difference in visual appearnace is funny. I just look fat after a carb rich meal. Note that I also take shit load of r-ALA but it doesn't help. Also drinking massive amounts of water don't seem to help as well. The bloatness goes slowly taking about 3 days of low carb (50-100g carbs a day)

This happens only after carb rich food. Now since I'm on low carb food for most of the time, I wonder if I add Psyllium which do not have a caloric value would bloat my stomach as well.

Some studies have shown natural psyllium husk to reduce bloat in people; due to it's non-sugar carbon bonded nature PH will be a good product to try -- of course as w/ any fiber you feel full at first but it should go away after a small period of time.

Thanks Mr.x ! Karma your way.

I just bought 'Whole Psyllium Husks' 100% pure from Now foods. It says it contains only Psyllium Husks and no other ingredients. It contains about 9g carbs (of which 7.4 are fiber) per 10grams. So only 6.4 calories (or more??) for two table spoons? Sounds good. Always looking for food that fills me up with as low amount of calories as possible.

Just a side note, it takes time to get used to the product and taste;once you're used to it, it really fills you up and clears your stomach of any "leftovers" so to speak.

Just added 5g of Psyllium to morning shake and another one to mid-noon shake. Taste is great. However, my stomach is as bloated as a baloon... makes me look bad, so i'm not sure about it.

Stick to 5g ONLY before bed for now, dont' take throughout the day (from what I can see here). Let's see if that helps a bit.

I went to the doctor about the symptoms mentioned above and I was diagnosed with IBS "irritable bowel syndrome" about 5 months ago... But i think that the doc just didnt want to do any further research into the situation and just wanted the money...

anyway...

I started taking metamucil and since im bout 220 i usually take the recomended amount + 1/2... i would take this in one large dose and not to divide it up... since that causes some serious bloat better to get it over with in 2 hrs instead of prolonging for the whole day... i personally prefer about 1.5 hours before bed.. good luck !
