Diet and sport?

Yeah i know, i know wrong forum but ive posted this in the diet board already and no replies so im turning to my AAS bros for advice

Ive just started playing rugby again after a 7 year break. I was wondering how I should handle my diet on match days? My normal breakfast would be a bowl of porrage, 2/3 poached eggs, one piece of brown toast, one 600 cal protein shake, 1 banana. If kick off is at 3 should i really be eating a lunch before i play? Whats the earliest you should eat before a game?

Any tips regarding food and playing sport from a BBing/muscle point of view greatly appricated!

Any experience from American football players would be appricated as the two sports are quite similar.

I played babseball and ran track bro. Not as tough as rugby. But I would eat about 2-3hrs before a game. A solid meal like you posted then, about 30-45min. before the activity I would down some fast acting carbs(fruit, gatorade) and a little bit of protein(15-20g.) keeping the cals around 200-300. That should give you energy but not slow you down.
