Deads, Jacked my back

bar

I love deads, however, I think it's time for me to get a belt, my lower back/tail bone area hurts like hell. I'm trying to work around it, but even holding db for bi's hurts. any suggestion a quick recovery?

I feel you bro my backs starting to hurt myself.Luckly the Physical trainer at my gym hooked me up with a belt to use yesterday to do my deads, but I deffinately have to go pick my own up.Times are just rough right now money wise.

sounds like you need to work on your form. bring up your weaknesses. in this case, sounds lie your lower back. try some good mornings when your back doesn't feel sore.

you also should strengthen your abs.

Get extra rest if possible. . .if you have injured the area there is no since in placing extra strain on the vulnerable erectors. If if is sore and fatigued from training, you can add some hyperextensions or some light good mornings.

Looks like time to rest the deads. To increase your deads...box squat, pull throughs, reverse hypers, glute/ham raises, etc...

Doing deads with the belt is the wrong answer. Promoting weakness is always the wrong answer. Drop them for a while and do the exercises B fold suggested to strengthen the area.

I know you will get pissed when I say the words Bad Form, but if you know someone whose opinion you respect, ask them to check you are keeping a tight back.

What he said.

I agree with Bollix, its probably your form. If you do them strict you shouldn't be hurting yourself. Whenever I let my form get sloppy on deads, there is a good chance my back will get screwed up for a few days.

I can NOT go heavy for many weeks in a row. I just can't do it. My body can only take the pounding of heavy squats, heavy deadlifts, heavy overhead presses, and very heavy and intense event training for so long...

Deadlifts are the first thing to take the back seat...then I cycle them back in after a while.

I always overtrain if I do deadlifts every week. Pavel says that lifts that require using the hands exhaust your nervous system faster. I don't know if that's true, but a decrease in grip strength is a sure sign of overtraining for me, I train my grip separately and if the strength is not back I stay out of the gym.
