If I train in the morning, my post workout meal is literally a meal - whole eggs, turkey bacon, and a little olive oil. I'll drink 25 grams of whey before the workout, then eat real food after. This is mainly due to my work schedule - I don't have the luxury of hanging out and getting in a shake and a meal post workout before I have to go to work, so I picked the meal over a shake.
I include fat because of the type of diet I'm on - very low carb, high fat and protein.
