I disagree with the flax. The last thing you need to supplement on a CKD is fat.

maybe some veggies like celery to mix up w/tuna or eat for a snack...need that fiber

marinades and low carb sauces etc., to try to make stuff taste good (if you care)

Are you serious? That`s ALL I have had for the past month+ is Flax seed oil. (for the fat portion of CKD) Why is that not recommended?

I'm with you gonelifting, EFA's are crucial to any ckd. Without them, your fat intake will not have nearly enough healthy fats. They will be replaced by much more saturated fats.

not all saturated fats are bad.
for example coconut oil is mostly saturated fat, but it's not a trans fat. and it actually promotes and increases thyroid output.

I was reading on a low carb forum that people that ate one to two tablespoons of coconut oil per day had their body temperature raise by a few degrees, and they started loosing more weight.

I bought some virgin coconut oil and I'm going to use it to supplement some of the fat on my ckd. It's an MCT also so it's used as energy. So you get energy + increased thyroid output + satisfied fat requirement for your ckd ..

I've heard it downplayed on this board, but I'm curious to see
the results of substituting coconut oil for some fat in your ckd diets.

If you are going to be eating a bunch of saturated fat on a CKD such as in cheese, red meat, eggs, etc...then adding flax won't do you a bit of good.

If you are however avoiding saturated fats on a CKD (making a torturous diet even more painful, IMO), then yes, by all means supplement with flax or other omega3's.

But for HSLifter's diet as he lists it, flax is unnecessary. He'll be taking in all he can handle. I mean Jesus, check out that shopping list!
