Cardio still effective at night?

Due to my schedule Im going to be performing my cardio (low intensity) after my lifting in the evening hours. I was wondering if it can still be effective at this time, and what I should do about post workout eating? It seems as though it may be counter-productive to do the cardio then come home and eat a big meal or something. But at the same rate, it wouldnt be wise of me to not eat anything at all following the workout/cardio. So should I just stick w/ low carbs post workout? Or no carbs at all? Or is cardio in the evening pointless? Thanks!

In the morning, I believe is the best time. The bottom line is, you are burning more calories than if you had not done it. It will still be effective is terms of weight loss and cardiovacular conditioning. If you are doing weights after the cardio you definitely need to get a good postworkout shake to refuel you muscles and liver (glycogen). If you don't eat any carbs after this you will definitely go flat and lose muslce size. After all that activity I would suggest about 40g's of protein and around 75g's of dextrose or carbs. Then for your post workout meal eat some lean protein, another 40 g's, with some slower carbs sweet potato(about 40-50 g's) or oatmeal, with some healthy fats (flax, fish , olives). It is crucial to replenish your body after a weight and cardio workout because it can be very draining on energy stores. Hope this helped!

if your doing your cardio at night, i suggest you do it after weights. So during lifting youll burn glycogen for energy, so when you get to cardio youll mobilize fat for energy. After the workout I would still consume a MRP. I did my workouts this way for about a year and made some good gains that year.
