Can dumbbell flys build pec mass?

Flyes are a good way to add some chest emphasis if you don't feel you're getting it from presses. You could also accomplish the same thing by focusing on using your pecs during a press movement (yes, merely thinking about using your pecs can have a difference :) )

Is this a proven thing or just a feeling you have because I always try think real hard on the main movers of each exercise I feel it helps work that muscle better.

Because my back, arms and shoulders are relatively large compared to my chest, Ive had problems isolating my pecs with flat and incline pressing movements primarly targeting the chest.

Well...I don't have anything to back it up except anecdotal evidence. Basically my left pec outgrew my right one for awhile because I was pushing more with my left pec, subconsciously.

I sorta had the same experience as Louden, I did flies for years without any noticable gain in chest size. Once I started seriously pressing (and especially with incline db press) there was definite growth. Just my experience, it could be different for you, though I recommend pressing exercises if you want chest growth.
