OMG Daisy of course! I used to do the so called "big boy machines" with all the heavy weight...but realized it wasn't doing anything for me. Then recently I started doing cable stuff for back.
I started to do more cable things for back because you get more of an isolation in the muscles. I start out with standing bend over rows on the cable machine. Use the small straightbar. I do 3-4 sets of 8, using 95 lbs. Then between each set I immediately superset with lower weight 50 lbs and go really fast to burn it out. Then I do standing lat pushdowns, with a wide grip on the bar. I use 70 lbs, 3 sets of 6-8 reps. After that I do standing pull out cables doing each arm seperately. You want to hold the cable up high as if you were doing a row. I do 3 sets of 8, using 40-60 lbs. I finish up doing lower back extentions...

AWESOME - I have been looking for differnt back workouts, but never thought to go to the cable machine. This rocks - I'm gonna try it next time I do back. You rule.
