This thread would be a good starting point.. further more, if you hook yourself up to an EMG to measure stimulus, you would quickly realize that parallell activiates the lats way more.

How about hooking me up with a picture, because I've persued the thread, and although I was pretty swift in school with my mathematics, I still need a visual. All of that is going over my head.

Even though the exercise can be done with both grips, overhand grip is recommended though because if not done properly the underhand grip can damage your wrists. Anyway keep proper form and remember to contract the lats.
 
I think as I go up in weight I'm going to be forced to switch grips, as it will become too much for my wrists/forearms to handle. I even drive under handed! Thanks Nikkita.
