Article on the importance of protein immediately after training..

Hmmmm there's no doubt that it's pretty tough to get any muscle gains in 70-80 year olds. I think if they had tried that in 18 year old untrained males they would have found that they grew in reponse to weight training no matter when they ate, but that having protein closer to the workout results in a larger anabolic response. I for one always consume free form aminos and honey BEFORE my workout as hoffmeister indicated, and I don't bother with the postworkout insulin blitz, though I do eat a substantial meal within 2 hours of working out. Works well for me......
 
I try and cover the bases, and do both :)

Right now I'm eating 2 cups oatmeal/scoop of whey/tblspn Flax about 45 minutes before.

After is 2 scoops whey/half cup skim/half frozen banana. Oh yeah, and my smarties :)

I used to workout hard in the school gym when i was 15 - 16 and whilst i found my strength increasing quite a bit.. i wasn't gaining mass due to my eating habits (would of been good if they had maybe a P.E teacher guiding us with our diets when we were that young) .. I went at least 3 hrs before a huge meal which doesnt give good results at all >:(

ahhh well im glad i know what im doing now... hopefully :)
