Are you Really Strong?????

Lb for lb the smaller guy is stronger, but actually the fat guy doing more weight is, literally, stronger.

Still my room mate weighed 165 and benched 315 for a set of 3...so I would have to say he is a strong m0f0

Chuck

I benched with on of the "small" guys today. He is 5'9" and 185. That bastard smoked 435 like it was nothing. I finally got 4 plates but i'm heavier than I usually am. 5'9" 212lbs.

body weight is important....if not all power lifting comps would be "open"....can u imagine 120 pound dude competing with a heavy weight!

who cares how strong anyone is.......... as long as the judges feel i have the best overall symetry , definition, size, and density i take 1st place and hopefully the overall at that particular show!!!!
lol.....

Well first off, Im one of the small guys. I am 5'5" and I do powerlifting meets in the 165lb class. Back in September of this year I did 350lbs at a bodyweight of 165lbs. That was with a Bench Press shirt on. Two weeks before the meet I did 330lbs at 165 bodyweight without a shirt. My opinion is this, whom ever pushes the most weight is the strongest regardless of bodyweight. But at the same time, as far as percentages for the individual if a smaller guy pushes like 2 or 3 times his body weight and the big guy pushes only 15 or 20 pounds over his weight then the smaller guy is stronger in that respect. Its all in how you look at it but my final thing to say is that I agree with Bulldog_10. In real life situations the only strength that matters is who makes who tap out. Oh yea I forgot, That statement that Golfer18 made about guys with short arms being stronger is not very accurate. I hate hearing that. Its like an excuse tall weak people make when a short guy is stronger. Ive heard it most of my life, people use it as an attempt to lessen the strength of someone in order to make them look better. Not directed toward you golfer18 but thats just how I feel. I have seen really tall, monkey armed s.o.b.'s push hella weight. The distance IMO doesnt really matter, weight is weight and strength is strength. Thats my opinion. Sorry for long post.

I am also tired of little guys blaming there size for lack of strength or short arms or whatever.
Who pushes and pulls the most weight in the three big lifts is the strongest to me.
My buddy is 6'2, 350lbs and benches 630, squats 800, and pulls 800.
Now thats a strong motherfucker.

im one of the big guys.......

ive never been critical of anyone who is pushing heavy weight no matter their size.....heavy weight is heavy wieght no matter whose pushin it.....

That certainly is a strong man. Let me see, if I multiply my weight times 0.14 and then take his weights divided by my weights.....he's still fucking stronger than I am.
I don't know if you read the thread about the kid using "roid rage" as his defense for attempted manslaughter on a police officer or not, but he was a good friend and his lifts and his size are about the same as you listed for your friend. Freaky.
