Are almonds a source of omega 3's?

"...There are two forms of the plant, the one (with pink flowers) producing sweet almonds, and the other (with white flowers) producing bitter almonds .... Bitter almonds may yield from 6 to 8% of prussic acid (also known as hydrogen cyanide). Extract of bitter almond was once used medicinally but even in small doses is severe and in larger doses can be deadly; the prussic acid must be removed before consumption .... "

No almonds have almost no n-3s. High in n-9 and moderate in n-6 though. Walnuts are not very high, but not an unreasonable source of n-3 fats. Flax seeds/oil and cold water fish are considerably higher.

Yes your body produces them. Supplimenting with them is a waste also because they are plentiful in most whole foods, and are very high in most nutts and olive oil (which is over 90% n-9 fats).
