Another carb question...

I'm cutting right now, so I planned to consume only carbs with a low glycemic index. I also was going to avoid all carbs after 4:00pm.

However, I was reading that 60 minutes after your workout you should consume a meal consisting of protein and carbs with a high glycemic index. Due to my work schedule, I usually eat my post workout meal around 7:00 at night. Should I still be eating carbs with a high glycemic index this late at night?

How important are those simple carbs for preventing muscle loss?

You should have a shake with something like dextrose WITHIN an hour of your workout. Then follow up an hour or two after that with a real meal...without carbs if you're trying to cut. The simple carbs are important post-workout to replenish glycogen stores in your muscles and help with proper recovery. If you're working hard enough you shouldn't have to worry about 30g of sugars...it'll get sucked right up and be put to good use. Pick up some G-R from the AF store and pop a couple caps before that shake and you'll be solid!
