Afraid of cardio!!

Seriously I'm probably gonna sound stupid but I'm kinda afraid to start doing cardio because I'm afraid I'll lose too much size and just look like a skeleton! But I seriously wanna lean out is there a certain amount of cardio for just fat burn? BTW I prefer skipping as cardio.

Thanks

You will definately lose size if you do too much. I know all about that. I was a fat kid for almost all my life until about 2 years ago. Started running 3 days a week, worked up to 6 days a week running AT LEAST 10-12 miles, some days I'd run 20. Lost 50 lbs and then wasted away to nothing.

I've gained plenty of muscle since then and I'm doing like 20-30 mins of cardio maybe 3-5 times a week. I wouldn't go any more than that.

Yeah I was thinking 30 mins cardio max per day just a bit weary cause I'd probably cry if I lost size an looked too skinny ha

when you hit that burning phase during cardio you will not only lose fat but lose muscle as well :(

but it depends on how built you are. a guy like me who has a shit ton of muscle is gonna burn muscle way faster than fat. just the way it is, muscle is size and the body will sacrifice it if its the best route to take.

that is the CHALLENGE of bodybuilding and why there are so few bodybuilders.. its tough, and a lot of people quit cause they get frustrated.

my suggestion is light cardio. a 2 mile light walk EOD is what i do. and also depend strongly on your diet to get you places. thats the only way to go.

and dont get frustrated if you are in a bulk and put on SOME fat. and on the flipside don't get frustrated if during a cut you lose SOME strength and muscle. its all part of the game. just keep clawing at it. remember pro bodybuilders carry more fat during the offseason and focus on putting on muscle. and then during season they cut down fat while trying to keep as much muscle as they can. its a constant war

You can also research diets that focus on ways body builders can lose fat while maintaining most of their muscle. I'm a big fan of Lyle McDonald at bodyrecomposition.com. (I think I can talk about that here, he doesn't sell any supps) The more dialed in for our sport the better. You can take a diet/training program and run it for a certain number of weeks in order to decide if it is the right one for you. The more exact we can be regarding calories in and exercise the better.

Thanks for the help bros!!

I think on my off days from lofting I'll just throw in 20-30 min of skipping and just maintain that protein intake and keep it high hopefully it works!

Thanks again

Hahha I like how this dude likes to skip for cardio. I don't think I ever seen anyone skip for cardio besides kids playing around

You ever tried skipping with proper jump rope? Doubt it pretty much if your comparing it to kids skipping it's actually very hard to keep it up at the paste I do it check out a few videos of boxing skipping etc "Jackass"
