Advice on cardio training

Ok the story is this.....I've been playing hockey for 11 years so my cardio isn't half bad...but in order to acheive the next level in my game it needs to improve...is there any type of workout plan and diet that anyone could suggest?.....Any help is greatly appreciated

Well you can lace up your shoes and put one foot foward at a time...Just find out what kind of base you have for running. Try running 3 miles see how you feel and how fast or slow. If you can't make it a full 3 miles I suggest starting out with 1 mile and add a quarter to half a mile each week till you get up to 3 miles

then run a full 4 mile run and see how long it takes you. If you can make it in under 30minutes then I would suggest 1 or 2 a week add in some longer speed work like quarter mile repeats for 2 miles or 2 miles worth of half mile repeats at slightly faster then your 3 mile race time.

That combined with lots and lots of stretching should get you started I would say you have a good 3 months at least to build up on that but perhaps your in better cardio already

i would start doing high intensity cardio, like sprinting for a min and then walk for two, in the beginning for 4 sprints/12 min, building up to 20-30 min. 2-4 times a week. intervalls are the best way to increase cardio vascular fitness.
