Just had my first session with a specialist in Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) here in Dallas for a bicep tendonitis problem I've had for about 5 months. It hurt like hell, but it was a good pain. I've only had one treatment and my shoulder already feels much looser with less pain in the long bicep tendon of my shoulder. Who knows, though, my shoulder could feel like shit in the morning.

Before pursuing this option I did some research on this site. There is some good information in other threads on A.R.T. However, I was wondering if anyone has had the treatment with little or no success.

Thanks!!

active release

Active release works. I have a session about twice a month just to help with the wear and tear. Active release saved a friend of mine from surgery. He had a really bad impingment in his rotator cuff they were going to surgery but after 4 sessions he was good to go. and ya it does hurt like hell ah.

i use self myofascial release on myself and some clients. works well when followed regularly, it does hurt like hell too but can overcome alot of problems where more drastic measures tend to be the norm for repair. its not been popularized much, but i have a feeling it will catch on.

ART kicks ass!

I hurt my shoulder a while ago and I could barely flat bench 135. Three treatments later I was benching 315 again ;)

Allright, you've got my attention. Who does this sports doctor, ortho surgeons, physical therpaist? Sounds exactly like what I need (pec tear). Can you go more in depth as to exactly what it is. Deep tissue massage, resistance.. thanks

I don't think I can explain it adequately. Here are some of the things I used to research it:

1. Here's a link to a "Testosterone Magazine" interview with the guy who developed Active Release:

Click the interview link called, "The Real Miracle Worker."

2. Use the search engine on this site for other discussion threads.

3. You can also check out Dr. Leahy's site (www.activerelease.com).

4. There are some articles and such throughout the Net. Just go to a good search engine and run a search or two.

If anyone else can contribute, please do so. Thanks.
