i wasn't going to post any pics until the end of the month... i've been taking some (these ones are from about 15 min ago), but i thought i'd share a couple just for the hell of it (and the fact that this first one here my cat is looking at me like i'm looney!! i didn't know he was there... :) )

excuse the mess, i'm taking a few days off work this week to catch up on the cleaning :)

Heres my back.....sometimes my husband says i look like a klingon from the backside......i dont think that is a compliment tho :) All those lumps poking out :)

well here goes my legs (they're not really my best feature... yet... i'm working them twice a week... lotsa squats, lunges, dls etc etc etc... owww... hurts just thinking about it!)

I promise I'll post some someday when hubby and I move into the digital age and get ourselves a digital camera. We don't even have a color printer, much less a scanner, or anything other than a computer!

i wish i had a digi cam... i might still get one. i have made pretty good progress since those first skinny skinny pics from before... i should have a bicep pic i took for fun on saturday with a friend's digi cam in the next few days. i'll post it and we can play find the bicep lol.. certainly not as impressive as you (but i'm trying to remain patient).. :)

I have to disagree about the booty fairy. Oh my, I have to disagree. Yum!

While you may not have been visited by the booby fairy (that's ok, I like 'em small, too), I'd say it's pretty damned obvious that the abs fairy has been visiting you every night after your workouts. That is a nice stomach, girl. What is your routine for abs? Share, please!

well, all i really do nowadays is cable crunches... i'm trying to add some mass to my abs, they were going too concave (i know some women are probably saying... damn, i wish i had that problem!)

i do some work on the swiss ball too, this is more just to keep my transverse strong since i injured it back in may...

other than diet, the key to getting flat abs is really in the transverse, i found after i injured mine and was really so much more cautious about it, that the abs just flattened out like anything... if you just concentrate on posture and contracting them, the transverse will start doing its job... (pulling in on the rectus abs) and voila, flatter abs... up until about a month ago, all i was doing was that type of ab work... then i realize that instead of stickin out, my abs were going in!! eeek.. so now i'm working on the cable crunches, on a step (with 2 elevatie things) keeping my butt glued to my heals... its not standard form but it really gets my abs and feels safer to my back than all that throwing around of the torso that i see done normally...

Oooh! I want concave! Can you explain how you got them again, but slowly this time for us slow learners? I'd like to know more about the transverse stuff you were doing. Also, I don't quite get your explanation of the cable crunches.

I'm jealous of Nat, who seems to have gotten to see those fab abs in person.

Your abs look perfect to me--explain about the elevation and the box on the cable crunches--are you kneeling on the box? Sorry to be dim.....

i get a stepper... with 2 elevatie things (on each side) i stick a mat on top for comfort, set the cable at about 1 notch from the top, using the rope handle (used for triceps)...

kneeling on the stepper (which is probably about 2 feet from the cables) and facing the cables, kneeling on the step, i get my knees really close (actually about a half inch) over the edge of the stepper... i make sure that i'm sitting back on on heels (keeping my butt on my heels has kept my back from doing the work here)... and then i just crunch down as low as i can go, making sure to really pull with my abs... (i use about 80lbs now, started at 50).. the elevation allows you to go lower into the movement than if you were on the ground... and makes keeping your butt on your heels easier...

(one other thing to add that might be confusing, but when i'm kneeling, my toes are still on the step/mat so my feet are flex (ie the top of my feet aren't on the step or my toes aren't pointed...) hope that wasn't too confusing, if it is, just kneel comfortably, you'll find a position that is good for you)

standard form for this is usually kneeling w/o keeping heels and butt together, but i found that akward and not really effective FOR ME... i tried a few things and found that this works great FOR ME... try it and see how it goes for you...

dang... the first time i read this i mis-read it... thanks so much for a complement, that's one of the nicest things that someone's ever said to me... best of luck to your girl... if i can do it, anyone can!! :) lots of hard work and dedication go a looooooooong way!

But my cat LOVES when he can be involved -- we do kitty squats, kitty front squats, kitty curls, kitty nose busters, kitty presses, kitty extensions and the ever popular good morning kitties! His favorite is to make sure I work my upper abs by running underneath my back when I start doing crunches...

hehe.... i don't do a lot of crunches, but my cats do that to my fiance when he gets out my mat and starts to do them... it's really funny to watch... my kitties are sooo cool... scottish folds... (the boy, in the first pic, has the folded ears...)

I have 2 kitties myself, one was homeless the other unwanted(which I don't understand cause she is the sweetest thing I have ever seen)

yup, the kind words are definately motivating... not just about the pics either.. if i've helped anyone out there with my advice, well that just makes everything worthwhile!! and it helps to have all my own hard work go noticed too!!

I don't mean to sound stupid....but I am very interested in starting a fitness program. I am 5'4 140 23yrs. I just want to look lean. My body has potential and I really want it but everytime I try I really don't see any improvements, so i give up. Can you help me out. Mr Problem areas are glutes and legs and I can't seem to make any improvements. I am a carbaholic and have tried the no card deal but I wind up binge carbing if I deprive myself.

You look great (what do you do to get those awesome legs?) HELP!

starfish - i've been working out for about 3 years now, but i'd have to say seriously working out since November, and very seriously since May... and nah... i had my stint with gymnatstics but other than that i've always been a really skinny gal with high bodyfat (you know skinny but squishy :) )

Fonz - thanks... the legs are there (well the pics are anyways... did you not see?? :confused: ).. they aint my best feature, but i'm working on them :) (check me in a month or two... i'll have some kick ass legs from my squats and lunges and deadlifts and stairsprints that i'm doing...)... have a great time on your trip... make sure you get lots ;)

akil (blondi) - as far as the fitness lifestyle is concerned, consistiancy and small moves are the key... don't do anything drastic, your body will just rebel against you.. you have to make small changes to your day to day routine and start slowly... these types of changes are more likely to be integrated into your lifestyle and get you away from the 'quick fix' mentality... start by going to the gym and following a simple 2-3 day a week routine (cardio + upper body or lower body) and then just read, watch, learn and adjust from there...

as far as diet goes - just make sure you get lots of clean food in moderation... carbs are not your enemy, just try to stay away from the processed ones... eat sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat breads/pastas, lots of veggies... eat lots of lean proteins and some healthy fats (all natural peanut butter, flax seed oils ect)... don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods (sugary or fatty ones), just have some at the end, a little can go along way when you're already full... (often its just the taste of chocolate)... try to find healthy alternatives... my chocolate protein shakes always curb my chocolate cravings... (i actually crave my chocolate, peanut butter and banana shakes :) )

specifically for legs/glutes, learn proper form on squats and use it... they'll do a number on those legs :) deadlifts and lunges are also good... start with light weights and make sure you're doing the movements correctly and safely, once you get it down, add some weight and challange yourself... (you won't get big if you lift heavy weights, you'll gain some lean muscle mass which will help burn fat and tone your body)....

keep reading the boards and working hard, you'll get there

congrats on the upcoming wedding... its great to have motivation like that to get in kickass shape... and you've given yourself enough time to really make some positive changes in your body... if you have the drive and you work hard and eat clean, you will get there!!!

well, yeah, i'm engaged, but the wedding date hasn't been set yet... no plans for kids (at least not for a long time)... we are both career-minded (me even more so than him)... so children really haven't been in the close or even long range plans...

if/when we decide on children (probably looking at about 7-10 years from now), i'll be getting all possible blood work done to verify that everything is as normal and functioning... if not, i'll live with it and adopt, there are so many children that are in need of good home (and since we are a mixed couple, there is more 'choice' out there if you will)...

sooo... that's about where it stands with me... does that answer the question (not sure...?))

(they're pretty much like children, but we can leave 'em alone for the day and no one calls the cops on us :) )
