20% BF--- should i cut or keep bulking

It is cold and I don't plan on taking my shirt off anytime soon. I am 5'10 205 and 20%BF and want to bulk up and start cutting sometime around February. Does that sound like a plan or should I cut now and bulk up when I get down to 12-15% BF?

Normally around the winter time, most people tend to bulk as it's easier to train and less going on outside due to the weather. However, in your situation, I think if you bulk now and cut in February, you'll be at a higher BF%, posssibly around 23-25% and that'll make your cut that much tougher. Why don't you work on a maintenance phase right now and come February, go for the cut?

Remember, the secret to packing on pounds of solid muscle mass is simple: For the most part, the types of foods you eat on a muscle-gaining program are the same ones you should eat all the time, whether you want to lose, gain or maintain - you just need to eat more of them

If you get to 12% you may not want to bulk since you'll look like you did bulk, that is if you aready have a decent amount of muscle.

In a common practise bulking routine, the fat gains can range from 3%-10% per 16 weeks. In your case, 10% would put you right at 30% bodyfat, which I would HIGHLY suggest against due to possible health risks.

Jump on a CKD for about 8 weeks and drop at least 5% bodyfat before getting on a bulking diet. In turn, I would still suggest being 10% or less before bulking, but 15% can work in some cases.

thanks a lot everyone. Mr. X what is a CKD?

Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (can also be cyclo ketonic diet).

5 days no-carbs (think atkins)
2 day carb up ( think refeed)

helps you be in ketosis; thus, using bodyfat as fuels and sparing muscle at the same time.

check out my ckd manual
