100 Reps for bigger muscles? Article

my dad is a carpenter. he hasnt touched a weight in over 15 years and eats about 2-3 meals a day, yet at 175 he's thicker than i am.

i've had to work with him a couple times. no time to eat, and yes, lots of bicep work

Crap! My job has me sitting on my ass in front of a computer, or telling the factory what to do. Guess I always have shitty arms......

At least it pays well......

My Job over the Summer had me sitting in front of a computer all day to, but that was okay because they had a fitness center, with all kinds of great equipmwnt, like butterflies, Cable bench press stations, cable curls, and all kinda of good stuff, so you can be sure my arms weren't lacking this summer

Ah yes, I figured it was time for this. The old 100 rep sets routine gets rehashed every 5 years or so.

I didn't read the whole post but the advantage of high reps is that it increases mitochondria, thus allowing for more potential muscle growth. As far as it being a regular method though, it wouldn't be very productive except for slow twitch muscles. So if your calves are really scrawny, high rep sets are all you should do because you don't have any white fibers anyway and if you train too heavy you'll just be working your tendons.

you said you didnt read the whole post yet you made a conclusion on it that was way off, read it again, by the way what makes your bodybuilding book so different than anyother bodybuilding book.

correct on both accounts.

nc lifter-you dont need to read the whole post if you understand the principle they are trying to use. its not a mass principle, its periodization. increase your work capacity and then return to your true hypertrophy training with the ability to do more work. more work=more overload stress=more growth. an increase, however slight, in the SR will give some size but basically its just tuning up the "feed lines" going to the "pistons". then you go back and bore out the cylinders and put bigger pistons in. if you follow that analogy.

lets all play nice. :)
