Yup that was the salt dome here on Spindletop Hill they struck oil at on January 10, 1901. Became known as Boomtown, and started a MASSIVE refinery production in the area that is still responsible for the employment of nearly every job around here (including my own) to this day. psizzle and I grew up here, she can attest to how insane this area is about our oil.
Minor fluctuations in the price of crude directly affect our local economy. We almost haven't noticed a recession lol.
