i found a really comfortable wrist position for skull crushers that feels good on the elbow and wrists. I was wondering if this makes the movement less effective though

heres a diagram i drew up, it might be hard to tell what i'm talking about. The first pic is the new position with my wrist curled up and grabbing the bar. The second is my wrist straight

im not sure what the first pic is saying - i use a thumbs over the bar like when doing tri-pressdowns instead of having it wrapped around the bar. this has always been more comfortable for me. great drawing by the way - i hear walt disney calling. j/k bro.

That is the worst drawing in existence.

Haha, I'm only messin bro. Use an EZ bar, like SAGAT said. Works fine for me.

thx for the advice fellas! i'll try the ez curl bar

as for the drawing, i can't believe you guys don't like it...damn all those years of art school down the drain

I would thing that doing skulls with your wrists bent like that would hurt like hell. I would always suggest that you keep your wrists straight.

Side note....I've found that wrist and elbow pain from excercises such as skulls can be a matter of weak tendons. Try doing them light for a few weeks just to get your tendons up to par with your tris, and you might find that that pain will go away. However if it doesn't, I'd do different tri excercises.

Exactly, curling your wrists can be dangerous.

ive seen guys doing skull crushers both ways, i just us an ez curl bar and it feels fine

Personally, I have always used the EZ bar because the long olympic bar can be difficult to balance. Plus, the EZ is better on the wrists in my opinion.
