Why do some women get FAT after they been in a relationship for a while?

The fat "gene". Sorry, I don not believe in that crap.

Education is key...

I think there is a genetic basis to fat, but that also means we probably all have it.

It all relates to our human prehistory, running around in animal skins and hunting or foraging for food. Times were tough, and if we didn't gorge when there was food and store fat, humans wouldn't have survived.

Really, it is more about our primitive fat storing genes not catching up with modern lifestyle, when food, warmth are abundant, are far less energy expenditure is required.

I am sure that a few odd genetic malfunctions related to morbid obesity will be found, but it will probably only be about 5% of the population, not 60 % as it stands right now.

I'm having some fun here with this thought in regards to your post:. Perhaps we need to have all the grocery stores do rock climbing walls for the junk food section. :)

Did you read Tat's thread above?

I see SO many people WHO think that ten pounds is NOTHING to worry about. The sad truth is, those ten lbs then become 20, 30, 40 lbs! My hubby was one of those people who said, " It's only 10 lbs. I can drop this poundage in no time". HA! He ended up 38 lbs. heavier in NO TIME flat due to HIS poor choices in his lifestyle!

I can easily carry and extra 10-15 lbs, but what you say does make a really valid point.

You get used to how you look with the extra weight/fat, fat does have it's own little metabolic trip that makes it easier to store what you eat as fat, another pound here and there, you don't notice, and all of a sudden, WHAM, big fattie.

Too much effort to take it all off, so much easier to jump on a scale, take a body fat measurement at least once every month (I know I have to cause the mirror lies to me :) ).

lol my hubby too - he has gained quite a bit since we got married, but i have basically stayed the same...since give or take 5-10lbs.

I've watched myself over the years flux between anywhere between 5-10 lbs only depending on the type and frequency of cardio, so many factors can make up what i weigh and everything. its all a choice of how much i care at any given moment, and honestly, I dont always care SO MUCH. I have a certain number that I CAN NOT go over though for what I know I dont want to end up being a new set point or whatever. lol.

I dont feel that when I am 10 lb heaver that I'm any less sexy, attractive, a good person, more or less lazy or any of that. just 10 lb heavier.

case in point right now i dont give a shit hence me sticking up for a girl who gained 10 lbs

im the softer side of cindy right now.

fuck!

I have no clue what I weigh and I really don't give a fat rat's ass. For me, it is all about how my clothing fits. Being poor (now I am just cheap LOL) had its advantages I suppose as I was forced to wear the same clothing FOR YEARS.

I don't obsess over the size thing either as I have personal knowledge and experience with modeling/clothing manufacter industry.

It is really hard to be *so hard* on yourself over all but I know when I am happiest and that is when I know that I can go to ANY OUTFIT in my closet and KNOW it will fit or put on a bathing suit and not feel remotely self-conscious.

I had been fat and unnattractive and self-consious near my entire life (but for the last 10 years). I like feeling strong and confident MUCH MUCH BETTER <--- that is my *drug* of choice. :)

Once you learn some basic physiology (not rocket science as Vixenghost says) and stay on top of your shit, not letting it get to the point where your clothing doesn't fit then you are golden.

A little maintenance goes a loooooooooooong way. It is far easier to maintain your shape than it is to recover once you have waaaaaaaay gotten out of control and that happy fat adds up RIGHT QUICK making you waaaaaaaay UNhappy and just FAT.

There are people that say they like being fat, and there are people that love the fat as well.

Really, if you are happy with the skin you are in, does it really matter, as long as it is not impacting your quality of life and well-being?

I don't pass judgment.

I just think that it's sad when people who are overweight are miserable and don't have the dedication to put the time in to *unlearn* all the BS lies that the "fitness industry" and media have been proliferating for so long.

stop eating and ditch your car. ok, you're allowed to eat ice and drink water. sprint everywhere you go. it's raining or snowing is not an excuse.

'Starvation diets' actually make people fat and/or fatter in the long run.
