Why do people workout?

So after being away in Asia for 3 months i decide to go back to my regular gym @ home. After being in there for 10 minutes i notice the same "morning" people in there.

What surprises me more than anything is that every single person looks exactly the same and they are lifting exactly the same amount of weight as when i left. I'm not talking about people just trying to stay in shape, i'm talking about those "hardcore" so called bodybuilders who think they know everything. Anyone else notice this in there own gym?
 
thats how it is with people that really dont know what htey are doing. And wont let the staff at the gym help them. I see it at my gym too. The staff SHOULD be more conserned about this, and about following people up. If i worked at a gym id make my office in the middle of the gym. That way i could see what everybody was doing. And i could help them out. What good are they if they never leave the bloody counter.
 
yep and i don't want to be one of those people. that's why i say my prayers, be true to others, be true to myself and take my hogan vitamins. i will say something to you brother. they are running, they are hiding, they are scared that HULKAMANIA IS RUNNING WILD!!! I won't stop until I get those 24 inch pythons!!!:D

Howver it is not the responsibility of the staff to go ask every person if they would like a new program.

However, at my gym, I have 6 folders full of different workouts and I tell people evry 5-7 weeks switch down the line and pick up a new one,.

Face it - most poeple just wanna say "I workout"
 
i agree Corn, but i think its sad. i remember when i joined a new gym, i was around 16, and had been trianing for 2 years. And i wanted a split program. For 3 days. But the dude wouldnt give it to me, he gave me my money back and never wanted to talk to me again. So i had to make my own program. Some people just plain suck.

I know its not the staffs responsibilty to make sure that people change theire program. But what about having staff members walk thru the gym every half hour or so. Just to correct peoples form and such?
 
I guarantee these people don't even have a program. I don't leave it to people working in gyms to teach these idiots the rights and wrongs. They should learn on their own first then ask questions if they don't comprehend what they have learned.

True on the form stuff.


I think, at last count, in addition to the folders, I has personally, set up over 60 programs for people. GOes with the job.
 
Yeah, i dont think i have ever seen the people at my gym set up programs. Most dont know about tha stuff either. Ive nver seen them use the weights. But when you make a program for a person, do you then get togheter lets say 12 weeks later and gives him a new program? what about nutrition tips? most people are to lazy to start reading up on that stuff without guidance.

I find that most people either:

1 - get stale after 6-8 weeks
2 - boredom

both mean no progress.

I'll set-up the program and go thru it with them if it involves new exercises and tell them that in 6-8 weeks come see me for something new.
 
Yeah, because the ones that really want to improve rarely asks for programs. They learn the shit on their own.
