i've had one since i was 18. only carried a piece a couple of times tho

How did you get a permit before you were of legal age to possess a handgun? Fedderal law has required you to be 21 to legally posess a handgun for a while now.

i just checked and mine just expired a couple months ago. there good for 5 yrs here, so that would put two at 10 yrs ago when i got my first one. 18 bitch

States rights. That which is not laid out in the Constitution is deferred to the states. Vermont has no age restriction at all for concealed carry.

During the time I had mine I never needed it. However I dropped my piece at a friend's house and it fired. It blew up a table and bounced up through the roof. My friend and his father who owned the house were not happy about that incident. It also scared the piss out of their dog and it has been on Prozac ever since.

But seriously, consider your reasons for wanting to carry a weapon. If you hang out at places where trouble is likely to occur, find another place to hang out. You don't ever want to be in a situation where you use that weapon because even if you do defend yourself you will still likely have legal problems.

I had mine while I was a pizza delivery driver. Unfortunately, pizza drivers are frequent targets for thugs. I'm still not sure it would have ever helped as the thugs always have the upper hand since they are making the first move.
Ive had an incident with a neighbor and his shotgun here where I live. A guy I knew also got robbed at gunpoint in the walmart parking lot down the street from me. Several of my friends have ended an aggressors actions by simply showing their gun and that was the end of it, or they would have to roll the dice in a street brawl or some sort. I could go on but the bottom line is I would rather have it and not need than need it and not have it.
By the way your incident sounds like the pistol had low quality manufacturer standards. Most quality guns arent supposed to go off even if loaded and dropped. Sounds like a tough break.

I have a CC permit and I carry some of the time. I always carry when in the mountains (H&K Compact .40) and infrequently when I'm around the city depending on where I'm going. The problem with CC in the city is that a compact is still pretty good size. I carry a Karr PM40 in a pocket holster. Its small enough (sub-compact) to fit in your pocket unless your pants are skin tight and its still a .40 caliber 4+1 with the regular magazine.

What about a shoulder holster? Cargo pockets would hide any compact....
