Who has a CC permit?

Where do you live? At my previous residence there were four murders within 2 blocks of my home in the three month span before I moved the fuck away from that hood. Three of the murders were between people who knew their killer but one was a random victim shot by a car thief. With incidents this common, good people want to have the ability to protect themselves and loved ones. Unfortunately, that's life in certain parts of the USA.

When I had my old permit and carried a gun, I always found myself much more calm even if someone tried to mess with me or verbally threatened me. I would quickly turn the other cheek. That doesn't mean I was a pussy, I was simply doing everything I could to AVOID having to draw my weapon. Someone could be a total prick to me and I would ignore it. When you know that you have the power to easily kill someone, it's much easier to ignore someone that's being an asshole. You do not ever want to take your weapon out of the holster unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Well put rob

Well, in Canada if you have some breaking and entering and then they slip in your house, they can sue you and make money

if they attack you after they break into your house, you have no right to shoot them, thats accessive force

I dont even know when you have the right to use a frickin gum

When I was younger I lived in the roughest part of my city. Cars would get broken into all the time, including mine. But nobody EVER used a gun.

Violence between folks wouldn't be more than a punch up. I don't think any car thief in my city ever used a gun. A car jacking would be a huge news event here.

I think you would be the exception, there are a whole bunch of people I can think of who I would not trust owning a gun AT ALL. Including people I work with, lots of hot heads and short fuses out there. The presence of guns in a society and the ever present potential for deadly violence destroys a lot of natural calm and relaxed atmosphere in my opinion.

I am glad a lot of the idiots I am surrounded with on a daily basis don't have guns to be honest.

When exactly is that?

When somebody aggressively approaches your car?

When they hit your car with a baseball bat?

When they hit you with a baseball bat?

When they just throw a punch?

When somebody steals your wallet and is trying to run away?

What gives a gun owner who is not a law enforcement officer the right to decide when to use deadly violence in public?

I can think of a whole lot of scenarios where I may be threatened or even harmed but would not be justified in killing somebody.

You don't need a gun. If nefarious beings approach you, simply throw a handful of apricot seeds. They can not continue to pursue you until they've picked them all up.

Apricot seeds may save your life.

See the problem with that statement "someone who is not a law enforcement officer"...requires you to have a belief that the Law enforcement officers are ANY better than your average person. Most LE's are power happy and abuse their power anyways. We just had an issue at College Park in Maryland where police got caught on tape beating down some students, unprovoked. If these power happy pricks can have guns, the average person should be able to have some form of protection as well. If someone swings at you with their fists then YES it is excessive force to then shoot them, but if they are beating you to the point they are trying to kill you, they are swinging a knife at you, or yes, smashing you with a baseball bat, you probably WONT HAVE TO SHOOT THEM, but pulling a gun on them, if they dont have one, will probably make them stop and run away. Most of the time, once the people learn that you can easily end things, they will either stop, surrender, or run. Just because you have to PULL your gun, doesn't mean you have to fire it. Obviously you should never shoot someone that is running away, shooting someone in the back is one of the most cowardly things you can do. If all criminals know that EVERYONE is an easy target and that no one can fight back, it would be a happy place for all criminals, they would really have no worries. Giving the people a right to protect themselves in this day in age is almost a requirement in some places.

And how exactly would LE know either?

As a matter of fact, since many victims know their attacker I could easily argue that LE may be in a much worse position to make those decisions.

If I am ever forced to pull my gun in self defense I will most definitely fire. Drawing your weapon is the last line of defense. Luckily since I've been carrying I have not had to think twice about drawing my weapon.
