For me, I can't not wake up at least 2 times each night and have always done this (have often been on insomina pills in the past).
Therefore, each night I make sure there is a large tuna tin or some cooked chicken in the fridge, and scoff about 100 grams when I wake up during the night, and then go back to sleep.
If you keep your night snack choices sensible, I can't see how it could do anyone harm if you wake up anyway (I wouldn't set an alarm though).
