also your post is a bit unclear neccesary no...

if for example i ate meal 5 and went to bed, and still had meal 6 to go i woke up to pee i would eat.

if my kcal allotment is done for the day then no

i wrote it like that because i have noticed that most of the people that do eat at night is because they believe they will get into a catabolic state if they don't.

Yeah but also who here wakes up in the middle of the night, half asleep downs a box of Oreos and a package of Pop-Tarts...........completely unneccessary, but damnit if I don't do it about twice a week
 
No.

I don't like interupted sleep.

I get my 7 meals in during the day, and that's more than enough for me.
 
Why do so many of you wake up in the middle of the night to begin with? Can't you just sleep straight through until the morning?
 
I eat right before I go to bed and as soon as I wake up
I have to have my sleep uninterrupted to feel good in the morning
 
I eat at night not because of catabolisim but because i am freakin hungry. Oreos ice cream chips plus whatever protien i have . I guess why i am 12% bodyfat. oh well i aint doing no contest.stats are 5-10 215lbs 35 years old.

Many people have to wake up in the night to piss anyways. I keep a shake in the bathroom for when I do.

Wouldn't it be funny if I was really drowsy and filled that shake with the wrong kind of liquid...lol

That'd be me - taking several trips to the can that is. I keep the protein shake in the fridge which isn't far to travel.
 
For me, I can't not wake up at least 2 times each night and have always done this (have often been on insomina pills in the past).

Therefore, each night I make sure there is a large tuna tin or some cooked chicken in the fridge, and scoff about 100 grams when I wake up during the night, and then go back to sleep.

If you keep your night snack choices sensible, I can't see how it could do anyone harm if you wake up anyway (I wouldn't set an alarm though).
 
I never eat in the night time, unles I feel somthing gnawing at my insides. A shake immediatly before bed will do it for me.
 
Are you kidding me, I cannot stop...I eat before bed and for some reason my eating schedule is not regulated because between 2-4 am I am up eating food again. NO matter how much I try to regulate my schedule it just wont work!
 
I don't see why you need to eat or chug down a shake at night.

If you want to stay really lean, consume your last (slow digesting) solid meal couple of hours before bed and then a casein shake right before sleeping. Thats it.
 
I get so jacked up on GABA and Melatonin that I don't wake up until the alarm goes off. Back in the day I would drink a few glasses of water before bed just to wake up. I would get up, piss, and then eat a half tub of cottage cheese.
 
IMO sleep is better than getting up and eating. If you take a good pre-bedtime shake with plenty of protein, you don't "need" to eat again until breakfast.
 
right before bed unless i fall asleep too early then when i wake up in the middle of the night i will grab my meal. usually just a casein shake.

I don't necessarely wake up and have a big meal, but sometimes I'm up late and I keep on eating proteins/veggies only. I also have a shake if I go piss and I'm starving
Sleep is more important, but if you wana gain wake up and eat....it works!
 
I always wake up to take a piss in the middle of the night (I drink a lot of water). When I get up to piss, I slam a protein shake. I also eat a good amount of protein right before bed (salmon or chicken breast, etc.).
 
i broke my sleep into 2 different times. 10:pm -3:am and 11:am -2:pm so i can take less time between meals. i noticed a difference when i made the change and as long as i am bb'ing i will never go back. the 2 different sleep times also kelps me keep a more stable energy level.

it is a pain in the ass to do this. but it is a fact that you will get more out of breaking your sleep with an extra meal than relying on cesein and fats to get you through 8-10 hours.

if you can break your sleep in to 2 different times similar to what i do you will also need less total sleep.
 
i do, but i dont believe its necessary. i feel like kind of an insomniac sometimes. waking up and having a glass of milk or a protein shake does no harm i believe. but hell, if your smashing an extra large pizza, now thats another story.

Nah....you do it to either gain more weight or in some cases to keep the weight up.
 
for me it's more about needing to cause I am Diabetic and I always get hungry between 3 and 5 am so i get up and either have a shake of a PB& J sandwich or turkey or whatever's in the fridge!
 
I chuckled - I eat in the night, but I don't think it's necessary - in fact, I wish I wouldn't. But I'm on the just trying to loose weight part of it, not trying to get all buff!
