They did remove the colored water fountains...

there is nothing in the US today to hold back a talented, hardworking person of color from achieving their potential. There are NO white only signs hanging in front of any institution in America today.

there is nothing in the US today to hold back a talented, hardworking person of color from achieving their potential. There are NO white only signs hanging in front of any institution in America today.

Racism is EVERYWHERE... It doesn't differentiate. White, black, hispanic, asian, ..................... on and on.

As humans we even find ourselves judging people by their cultural, spirtual, financial, intellectual backgrounds.

A perfect world.. hah! that won't happen for as long as humans inhabit it.

I don't look at the color of anyones skin and form an opinion. Of course there are people who do, but I'm sorry to turn the light bulb on. It's in every race!

I just get soooooooo tired of the old canard of white racism for any failure with-in minority ethnic groups

achievment gaps in school.... the school must be racist
fire department candidates that fail the testing threshholds..... the fire department must be racist (same for police departments)
SAT differences..... the test must be biased

and on and on and on ...........

We must as a society abandon affirmative action and any and ALL racial references, set asides, quotas, etc. (including university legacy programs). If, as mutlitcultural dogma insists, we are all the same beneath our skin then allow us to sink or swim according to our own abilities.

If an individual chooses not to study and learn to read then that person has no one to blame if the only job open is pushing a broom.

As to the original topic on this post...... The Black Caucas is acting in a racist manner when they refuse to allow a person to join based soley on their skin color.

I will agree that the majority of the responsibility for an individuals failure to achieve lies with that individual. However, the inference that all are viewed equally and have the same opportunity in the US is laughable.

My grandmother was Black Foot and so are most of my inlaws. There is a lot of resentment with the casinos and preferential treatment with the tribal laws. So many of my inlaws have moved west.

Read more about the person trying to obtain membership in the organization before commenting my friend.

And as far as white racism being used as an excuse for the demise of many people from other ethnicities......

this will always be the assumption until you see the representation of all ethnic groups in our Governmental offices.

You do realize that the rolls would be reverse if the political positions were filled with mostly those of African American, Asian or Indian decent.

my point is that all institutional barriers have been removed and there are no doors shut to any TALENTED and HARDWORKING individual. I don't think it's laughable I think it's sad that there are still segments of our society that refuse to take advantage of any opportunities offered to them.

I do agree that it's laughable to think that we are all equal, however, we all have equal opportunities. you know, some of us just really are dumber. (and not race restricted either). It's laughable to think that set asides, AA, quotas and so on can create an equal outcome.
